THE BATCHWORTH BOAT RALLY, RICKMANSWORTH May 17
THE BATCHWORTH BOAT RALLY, RICKMANSWORTH

This rally was started in 2024 when at very short notice the huge Rickmansworth Festival was cancelled. The Waterspace team decided to keep the boat gathering but as a much smaller event. With some enthusiastic parters it was a huge success in 2024.

So Next year as an appropriate "Theme" for the times we are Calling all GUCCCo, FMC, Severn & Canal boats.particularly those built in 1935 as next year the Batchworth Boat Rally would like to see them all gathering at Batchworth in Rickmansworth to celebrate their 90 years.
The rally will take place on 17/18th May, two weeks after the cavalcade at Little Venice.
Please put the date in your calendar for next year and drop us an email then we will make sure to include you on the mailing list when bookings open in January.

Difficult delivery, HX78AD
Difficult delivery, HX78AD

LadyG replied to LadyG's topic in Boat Building & Maintenance

No issue, they will send a tracking notification, so I can watch the progress of the van. I did not expect the time when ordering, but I need to know when it is likely to arrive, there is no marina office.

You usually only get a delivery date and time when the courier has the item out for delivery. I don't think many online sellers will give you a delivery slot at the time of ordering.

OK, ty for responses. I have managed to speak to a sales person and he needs to send me an invoice, which I pay by bank transfer. I dont know why. He seemed unphased and it should be despatched today for delivery tomorrow. Result. This was Jacksons leisure supplies, so I think it should work. PS I did not want to risk the PO, as they sometimes seem to be difficult. Yesterday's uplift was not without a discussion , sigh. And that was Amazon but there was no code., so that was queried, I suspect they were difficult wth the delivery driver so he probably took a photo and left 😀

The oligarch media wont allow the Green Party to threaten their interests, and in this policy Polanski has given them a big stick to beat him with - just as they did with Corbyn. The effective conflation of opposition to zionists ethnic cleansing in palestine, with antisemitism, is very effective. Of course its utter nonsense, but that doesnt really matter to anyone who fears a serious movement to curtail fossil fuel wealth, and the wealthy paying their way in society on a level basis.

Cheers, I’ve read ours through and can’t see anything we’re contradicting 🍷🍷 Does anyone have any thoughts on the antifreeze itself? Survey in May, says protection to -17°, using a refractometer in the engine, and -10° in the heating header tank. We tested in September using a floating disc Hydrometer and had only one disc floating. We’ve bought a refractometer and will retest next week. Trouble is, previous owner can’t or won’t remember what brand of antifreeze was last added, only that it would have been Beta compliant. Beta have said don’t mix brands as they can react, but 2 very experienced old heads have told me to top up, just use pink on pink, and you’ll be fine. I’m lost with draining down the system myself, and time is running short. If the refractometer reading is borderline, Does anyone have any advice?

Leaving the MP/Quattro on solar/wind priority isn't really a problem, this also reduces the no-load power drain considerably which greatly extends the months in which solar can keep up with demand. If the SoC drops enough then a shoreline charge to 100% SoC is triggered, at least on my system. If you're worried about shorepower failing (I am) then it's trivial to set up an alarm to notify you if this happens -- I've notified the marina of this happening before they were aware of it. And then you have several days minimum (or several weeks, depending on battery size and power drain) to decide what to do about it, if anything. I have the diesel CH set to "frost protect" mode during the winter, this keeps the boat above 4.5C to prevent pipes freezing.

Mooring ambiguity
Mooring ambiguity

Arthur Marshall replied to nealeST's topic in General Boating

Not sure that matters. There have, in the past, been lived on boats parked up there for months on end (I think only one now) and I can imagine the permanent engine and genny noise must have driven the residents mad, especially when they knew that the boats weren't there legally - as a CRT worker will have done. There is a similar sign at Congleton wharf, which has had the same problem in the past. I suspect the problem is marginally less now with solar, but it has been a designated winter mooring. The point surely is that some boaters have no consideration for anyone else and consider themselves entitled to do whatever they like. I doubt that such antisocial behaviour would be much affected by a polite notice, official or not, any more than they bother about notices on visitor moorings limiting length of stay.
