THE BATCHWORTH BOAT RALLY, RICKMANSWORTH May 17
THE BATCHWORTH BOAT RALLY, RICKMANSWORTH

This rally was started in 2024 when at very short notice the huge Rickmansworth Festival was cancelled. The Waterspace team decided to keep the boat gathering but as a much smaller event. With some enthusiastic parters it was a huge success in 2024.

So Next year as an appropriate "Theme" for the times we are Calling all GUCCCo, FMC, Severn & Canal boats.particularly those built in 1935 as next year the Batchworth Boat Rally would like to see them all gathering at Batchworth in Rickmansworth to celebrate their 90 years.
The rally will take place on 17/18th May, two weeks after the cavalcade at Little Venice.
Please put the date in your calendar for next year and drop us an email then we will make sure to include you on the mailing list when bookings open in January.

Stop planks in marina entrance
Stop planks in marina entrance

koukouvagia replied to Grassman's topic in General Boating

In 2011/12 a serious drought caused the Tring Summit to be closed. The water level dropped a good eighteen inches and in order to protect the marina stop planks were placed under the nearby Newground bridge. They were useless because, according to Waterways, the bed of the canal was uneven.

Probably too big for Poste Restante. Perhaps buy via eBay and get it delivered to one of their locations near you, newsagent, One Stop, or such. Like this one

So, i need a new Excellence Cassette delivered to a Wharf, seem to have had various responses, but not one who will agree to deliver, and advise time. One asked me who is my courier, actually I assumed they have a courier. Im going to try again today, but any advice appreciated. Is it OK to use Poste Restsnte, I tried it on one company and he said we dont deliver to PO box!

When I had heaters on the boat the systems were drained and the heaters were placed one in the engine room and one by the calorifier just in case. They were set on their highest setting and controlled by an external stat which was also switchable remotely. It minimised the use of electricity. For a deep cold spell I could also switch the Eberspacher on remotely for a few hours a day thus keeping the boat well above freezing. Don't forget that according to some on here in order to comply with your insurance your heaters must be specified for marine use.

I am sure the BBC pays a fee to the European Broadcasting Union, who I am fairly sure run the contest, but I am not sure if entering the contest brings with it an extra fee. I don't know what other benefits the BBC gets from membership, but if they are not considerable I can see the time coming when the BBC should pull out of the contest and the EBU. However, as I intimated in another thread, strings will be pulled to ensure they do neither.

I really don't think you have grasped, or understood, what you have been told in the above answers to your questions, ,the C&RT movement requirements, or the amount of electricity you need to generate - irrespective of the battery chemistry - what you use must be replaced (yes Lithiums do charge more quickly), and with FLA batteries the 'normal' recommendation is the charge them for 4 hours EVERY day, and 8 hours for one of the weekend days.

I'm afraid much good work can be undermined by terrible communication from CRT ...annoying as it is an issue that could be readily corrected at no expense. Immensely frustrating I find, to receive communications that confuse the situation rather than add clarity ... and then you have to make phone calls and hope someone at the other end has an idea of what you're enquiring about 😊 Good luck on your perambulations 👍🏻 RRog

I can clear this up now. Bosley is definitely shut on Thursday. The notice applies to Marple. Marple has only been open on Thursdays. This informs us that this Thursday is the final Thursday Marple is open. Misleadingly, current information states Marple is closing October 13, which is a Tuesday…for flight that was only open on Thursday.
