A couple of years ago CRT were going to sell the Stop House at Braunston, but after protests they withdrew it from sale. They then offered it for rent but got no takers. Sometimes they can't win!

I seem to remember that the rental conditions were crap

That’s what I heard. The marina were allegedly thinking of taking it on till the price emerged?

What then seems to happen is the person/organisation /“charity” then sell it or develop the site as “no one wanted to rent it”

Came past today and there are now two houses for sale

Sadly the view is not just the canal but a very busy high level dual carriageway!

Not on the canal but the rather appealing/entirely useless small ait immediately below Temple weir on the Thames is for sale. Mooring rights are claimed and you get a free submerged sandbank included !

floods completely in winter but could be a bit of fun. No landside access included.

someone will buy it out of fusiasm and find that it is completely impractical to do anything with it.

Its on the title deeds.

shown on the advert

anyway it ends on the 5th of July so anyone wanting it needs to get their skates on and do due dilligence..

I remember when this was for sale before. 2009. The description included an agreement to land on the lock island. Presumably this agreement is no longer in force and given the EA's bent for elfin safety it would never happen again.

access access access !

rather than location location location !

Because of the location and history it is highly likely that there will be a restrictive covenant forbidding erections.

This is very common.

an interesting discussion could be had as to whether a Boat would be an erection. I think it is possible. I am not convinced the covenant would allow the mooring of Boats other than those obviously intender for pleasure rather than accommodation.

A houseboat would definitely be an erection I feel.

One could keep a steam launch and get some african slaves to coal it but anything with cabins is going to draw attention due to the similarity to an erection.

What's this word mean?

Its similar to en-thusiasm but more serious and without the en- suffix.

its always funny when they say 'A unique opportunity to purchase...'

Its impossible for it to be anything else. It can't happen.

How about this one in Barrow on Soar? https://reedandbaum.co.uk/property/4-bed-detached-house-for-sale-in-welland-road-loughborough/588533#property-images

Or Burton on Trent near to Shobnall Fields https://www.johngerman.co.uk/property/outwoods-street-burton-on-trent/

https://www.johngerman.co.uk/property/outwoods-street-burton-on-trent-2/

Both have canal frontage albeit quite narrow - not enough for a boat. The Barrow one is nice and is convenient for the Navigation pub.
