Back in the early 2000's I ran my VW P.olo first on home made bio diesel and latterly on veg oil. It needed a heater to reduce the viscosity of the veg oil and was started/stopped using bio diesel. Saved a fortune in the couple of years that I did it. Smelt nice as well🫢 With an older engine I see no reason not to run on veg oil provided A: the oil is heated and B: the engine is started and stopped on diesel. There used to be lots on the interweb about how to run on veg oil and how to make your own bio diesel.

They are not! I have yet to see a mention of insurance co even mentioning LFP let alone imposing clauses. This is probably because 99% of installs in caravans are in dedicated lockers sealed from the inside of the van and vented outside. It's a requirement from LA days. The thing that I find worrying is that many just wire the LFP in parallel with the LA starter and rely on thin wiring and the BMS to control the charge**. Which may be fine in the case of some cars when the alternator only puts out 14.4v but not in the case of my latest that charges at 14.8v so I've had to fit a Renogy 20amp B2B charger and turn it right down so it doesn't draw too much over the cars wiring. ** I don't like only one layer of protection, it's why when younger I always wore no I'd better not go there😱🫢😀

The cheaper the better! Asda Smart Price bio liquid was the best until it got discontinued. We just get the cheapest we can find doesn't need to be perfumed. I've only used one once years ago at my tame metalworkers place, I think you can but don't quote me on that. I was amazed at what a brilliant piece of kit it was.

My panel stuck to the roof with Sikaflex survives 60mph wind for hours on end. You do need to prep the area properly and use the correct catalyst to clean and prime the surfaces.

I would regard this as a prime excuse to spend cash on a plasma cutter. Provided of course I couldn't find a tame metalworker with one to do it for me.

I used a Waterless Car Wash on my boat before I sold it and it worked very well. You do need a lot of Microfiber cloths 🤔. I still use it on the Caravan when I CBA. Cars I just take to the drive through.

I now don't even bother shopping locally apart from food and that's a few miles away to get the quality I want. Everything else is bought online as it's cheaper and the variety is there. You do get occasional mishaps but that can usually be sent back or if all else fails the credit card co will reimburse me.

That's exactly what I meant. HDPE is easier to do it with than marine ply that's for certain. We used to use it for building portable power distro, easy peasy.

Apart from being heavy what's wrong with using HDPE sheet? Can be easily cut and "welded" just make a support for the edges that follows the contour of the roof.

That's a great coincidence 😎 There are the remains of lime kilns just off Halfpenny Bridge and I believe there was also a wharf in Weare Giffard. There are also the remains of kilns where the River Yeo leaves the Torridge. At high tide there was still a good 2 metres under the Rib even upstream of the bridge so I suspect navigation was possible that far but only on certain tides. Much of the canal route was used to build the railway to Great Torrington which has now become the Tarka Trail long distance path. What surprised me was that the canal went all the way to what is now RHS Rosemoor where there were even more kilns. It is a spectacularly beautiful bit of river but being tidal very underused.
