If you did put an engine in it, I wonder how far it might get up the Grand Union before it got jammed between, or under, some part of the infrastructure.

It did get to Berko a few years back, that's when it turned grey.

Something funny going on with the top rubbing strake.

Maybe the rest fell off.

Nice looking vessel.

Just heard today the Neil Todd who owned Greenlaw ( and other boats) passed away today

That's sad to hear. I don't think he was that old. When I was building my own JP2 in the late 80's, I often used to visit Uxbridge to collect parts. More often than not I would call in at the "Shovel" for a pint, and more often than not Neil would be in there. As he was then the owner of "Baltic" which had a JP2 in it, we got to chatting, and our conversations would go on for some time.  The last time I saw him, he said (as I recall) that he was moving to the West Country.        RIP old friend.

Nah, it'll never leave the East End.

I was idly wondering if it actually got through the Hanwell flight. As I recall it that Boat was overplated either at Highline yachting at Iver on the Slough arm or at Uxbridge Boat centre.

If it was at Highline there is a suspicious possibility that it may have arrived there on a lorry as they are able to handle road transport.

Its an unpowered vessel from up north which had no cabin so road transport does seem to be a fairly probable entry route.A long way to come with no engine and narrow canals in the way.

That could also explain why it is still only a few miles and no locks from Iver.

I did see this being overplated in the 1990s but can't recall exactly where. Definitely GU south somewhere.

You are right- it came from Bedford (so not that North) on a lorry and did have a (terrible) cabin of sorts on it from when it was a restuarant boat- as far as I know its been in that general area ever since late 80s/early 90s. Cant remember when exactly but do remember flogging it for the princely sum of £500 after refloating her a couple of times and she had to leave Priory Marina..

Sold 😀

It's about time! It's a cool boat that's been sitting in the yard for too long, glad to see her find a new home.

Care to tell us a bit more, considering the links are to a private FB

I'm sorry, not sure how to do that, I'm technically challenged! Saw the ad so shared it didn't realise it was a private group. Maybe for sale elsewhere?

Yes. Formerly called Arthur and moored on the GU. It was heavily overplated and full size cabin on it at some stage.

Nice item but would want looking at carefully inside I reckon.

Non original engine.

This particular Boat almost took out my saloon launch in Molesey lock on the Thames about 10 years ago when the reverse gear failed. The steerer was revving it up and didn't hear me shouting it was still in ahead gear.

Bang. It hit the gates. So pleased I was beside it !

It did sell quite cheaply via CBS not long ago but it is a major project.

Yes I think its the same Boat. It was on the GU for a while then sold around 2011. I remember it being for sale then it was moved up to Reading for road transport back to the L&L. Then it was S8 by the CRT and taken to Greenwalls farm at Dodleston where CBS advertised it for sale and someone bought it quite recently. They are now selling it.

Problems inside I reckon. Overplating is not all that good over time.

At first I really liked fenny but

Don't like how the cabin has been done (mostly done to look wooden - but the engine room looks like a metal top?)

Cants don't look right

too short (a plus for some!)
