  1. How much did she pay for the boat? If it was 4s 6d then she should have expected the boat to last 10 minutes regardless of what the surveyor allegedly said. And the 10 minutes would have been value for money (provided no raising costs were incurred).
  2. I'd say something below the heater is creating high humidity which is condensing on anything cooler (not necessarily cold) above. When the system is running, pass a cold dry metal surface around the area and see if you can detect an invisible source.
  3. If you dropped an Atomic bomb on Liverpool, it would be stolen before it hit the ground. If you dropped an Atomic bomb on Bath, a flurry of boats would make for the space made almost before it filled with water. If you dropped an Atomic bomb on Tonbridge Wells, a protest letter would appear in the following day's edition of The Times. If you dropped an Atomic bomb on Westminster, the additional hot air would not be noticed. If you dropped an Atomic bomb on C&RT, they would find it necessary to change their logo, and therefore all their signs. If you dropped an Atomic bomb on Cheltenham, you would find that they had substituted a fake bomb. If you dropped an Atomic bomb on Basingstoke, the locals would just assume the crater was new roundabout.
  4. I know what you mean. Yesterday me and the wife enjoyed joke 2716. Again.
  5. Absolutely. My cast iron flue never got that hot. I would not use a stove with a flue like that. (even if thousands of boaters use them every day without problems).

  7. I would avoid any possibility of your water tank water getting warmed via the pipe?
  8. Some comments above. A question for the forum, don't fuel boats in London offer pump-outs? And is it time for fuel boats to do high-speed water tank filling as well? (preferably using different tanks…)
  9. Good Luck! And wave to my 3 year old granddaughter, currently in Basingstoke Hospital with breathing difficulties, as/if you pass by.

  12. Because I found it difficult to provide a collection container that wouldn't have a risk of spillage. And the Pela was quicker. And required less pumps. IIRC.

  14. I magnetically perspexed the lower part of my hoppers and left the hoppery bit as was. This gave a noticeable improvement.

  16. My Beta43 had a pump but I preferred to use a Pela.
  17. In one of my clarevoyant moments I inspected your so-called incomplete gas works and discovered that they are not gas works at all but a rather fine contemporary art-work just needing a few lines of poetry and a very expensive price tag to complete it. Make sure that your BSS inpector is sufficiently sophisticated to understand the finer points of works of art.
  18. To amplify: Visit them even if you decide that you are going to buy second-hand. Listening to them and seeing their manufacturing facility will be informative. They will be happy to talk to you. From their point of view you may be a customer in a few year's time.
  19. Leave the boat on a dry day. Before you leave the boat, run the stove hard and get the temperature inside the boat hot. This will get any dampness in the boat into the air. Shut down the stove and open the doors fully. The hot "damp" air will leave the boat and be replaced with cold dry air from outside. Close all windows & vents including your Morco flue. When this is complete, shut the doors smartly (with yourself outside). There is now no dampness in the boat and no way for it to get in, so no mould/condensation will occur. This method is not tried and not tested but I'm applying for a patent at the Bizzard Patent Office.
  20. The next generation of shipping containers has solar panels on one side. A 20,000 container ship can capture enough solar to power the ship without using its HVO diesels. So I'm told.
  21. Do modern Victron inverters still have the capability to trash your batteries if the shoreline fails in pass-thru mode?
  22. WMC=> roof by hand, bridge + slings + chain hoist ?
