Here's a photo. It shows the remains of the cabin, in the Basingstoke houseboat style. s-l1200(61).jpg.bdd0f1f283e44cc906536cff3f748731.jpg

A very basic joey, probably 7`and half an inch wide but a tape measure would be a good idea. Doesn't look too bad

The ad says seven and half feet wide but I think it's more likely that you are correct ! May need a few chains to pull it back to the correct width though. At £3k it could be good value as it is if anyone needs a workboat.

My initial thought was that I think some of the wooden Badingstoke houseboats were later enclosed within steel hulls, so if it is one of these it could well be 7ft 6ins. But this looks to be a riveted hull, so probably no more than about 7ft (ish).

Is this the remains of 'JOKER' that was tied above Fishery lock for some time?

There was a Basingstoke moored just above Old Fishery Lane..2009 time? which In believe went to Winkwell, but I thought it had been cut up into 3 pieces....

We had the front of Lms Mecca in 2000, rebuilt to 70 ft. She was a simply lovely living boat. Sold her when we went to work in Aus in 2005.

Time has not done her proud.

She was still good when moored at Bishops Meadow in Loughborough, but went downhill fast after that..

The other end we have followed, been in front of round the Thames ring this year.!

It was cut up last time I saw it.

I seem to remember it was a wooden one not metal.

It's still on Google maps in three bits

That one is definitely not wood, and my photos of the other one disappeared in a laptop crash and the nasty Photobucket have stopped all access to any stored on there.

Looking closely at the photos, rivets are clearly visible on the inside but not the outside. I wonder

Looking closely at the photos, rivets are clearly visible on the inside but not the outside where welds can be seen. I wonder whether someone has completely tanked a riveted Joey in steel, hence the width?

Three rivetted Mecca’s

1) Bcn day boat used to moor on GU Bugbrook.

2)  Lms Rear end ( going forward) at Warwickshire Fly circa 42 ft

3) Front  lms  now 70 ft . Thats our old boat. Used to hang around with (2) quite a lot when we lived between Warwickshire fly and end of ashby canal.

The boat that was cut up at Winkwell was Jester, in its working life was Tilbury a Walkers wooden butty.

More info as to what it was

https://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?/topic/9352-anyone-know-anything-about-this-boat/

Without drilling back again through all the information (and speculation) about JESTER, it is my memory that whilst it may have been TILBURY, there was not firm evidence that this had to be the case.

I guess there were quite a lot of ex GUCCCo "Ricky" buttys that may have been separated from their original names.

I just took the butty name from that thread as it was reported that Pete Harrison said it was probably Tilbury. That's good enough for me.
