THE BATCHWORTH BOAT RALLY, RICKMANSWORTH May 17
THE BATCHWORTH BOAT RALLY, RICKMANSWORTH

This rally was started in 2024 when at very short notice the huge Rickmansworth Festival was cancelled. The Waterspace team decided to keep the boat gathering but as a much smaller event. With some enthusiastic parters it was a huge success in 2024.

So Next year as an appropriate "Theme" for the times we are Calling all GUCCCo, FMC, Severn & Canal boats.particularly those built in 1935 as next year the Batchworth Boat Rally would like to see them all gathering at Batchworth in Rickmansworth to celebrate their 90 years.
The rally will take place on 17/18th May, two weeks after the cavalcade at Little Venice.
Please put the date in your calendar for next year and drop us an email then we will make sure to include you on the mailing list when bookings open in January.

Dorset is still very much floating, and owned by Char Hardern, moored at his yard on the Shroppie and with her original engine i believe, there are no knobsticks in the boat museum storage, the extant ones are Dorset, Sweden, Stockholm (for years Bedford / Spain), Dane at Middleport Pottery and Walton, an Uxbridge built boat for Mersey Weaver. I will also include Norway although not original.

Thanks Dan Nice to have a picture , which I hadn't seen before, and the exhaust looks to be in the right place! I thought Dorset was in storage at the boat museum but I might be getting confused with another boat which had a Petter under the steering position whereas Somerset has the conventional arrangement. I will see what I can find about Potters as carriers.

Ooh, please! Photos so helpful. Had been thinking I'd like to take the bloody thing out, but these suggestions are making me feel more optimistic The polycarbonate + magnetic strip idea is a good one, I had that in a house once and thought it was a brilliant affordable solution, dunno why I didn't think of it now. Would be good to do all the windows in this way actually.... hmmm! Will measure up for it today, seen a few cut-to-order places recommended elsewhere on't forum.

Hi Mike, Anderton motors named after Scandinavian countries and cities were engined with Bolinders, and those with UK county names were S types. Somerset is tricky, there isn't that much info out there, i assume you have this photo from her Potters years? she was sold March 1948 to Potters and was listed as sunk June 1955 at Middlewich. Also, she has some reference in the Anderton notebook. I hope this helps? Kind regards Dan
