Speedwheel
I man no comprehend - is that the name of a boat? Is she on Apollo Duck? Thanks anyway. http://www.vcmarine.co.uk/boatsnb/satellite.html

alan_fincher
Reduced and open to offers http://www.apolloduck.com/feature.phtml?id=432372 Given that we from time to time get serious enquiries about availability of unconverted boats, this surely has to find a new owner soon? Just as well I'm into "Grand Unions" rather than Joshers, as I really can't afford another "toy".......... Obviously Bolinders (of any type) are a bit of a specialist thing, and not everybody will want to take one on, but I note the suggestion that this might be changed if somebody preferred a Lister. The strange thing about historic boats is that if you were funding a restoration of a boat like "Ling" to this kind of standard, I'm sure it would cost far more than the price you might pay for one where this much work has been done. The other advantage over restoring one yourself, is you can start enjoying it from day one - something we were always very grateful when we bought "Sickle". Athy
http://www.vcmarine.co.uk/boatsnb/satellite.html Ah, thanks. Yes, very nice, but I don't want a boat as long as that. Part of Emerald's appeal is that she is just under 49 feet long (and even then she would have been the longest boat I had ever had).

alan_fincher
Where Satellite is concerned, I think the original engine was a horse! Not true of course, but I'm sure you know that really! Would the original engine have been a Bolinder? Yes, a 9 horse, direct reversing. Yes, one of the FMC motors intended for use on the Northern canals working alone without a butty - those that were expected to tow generally got a bigger Bolinder. So a rather different prospect from the 20HP now installed, which also has a reversing gearbox, so you don't need to force opposite rotation of the engine to achieve reverse, (as would have been required with the original engine). Liam
I'd have to take the offer of the HR3 up instead of the fuel guzzling noise box, but even the Lister is OTT.
Derek R.
Nice on the river though. I think SATELLITE is a little gem. Am I right in thinking the cabin is wood? Still a bonus. Easier to paint and get looking good. ETA: Yes, just re-read the pdf from the broker - timber. Edited October 1, 2015 by Derek R.
FMC Ling 317
I'd have to take the offer of the HR3 up instead of the fuel guzzling noise box, but even the Lister is OTT. Considering I didn't completely fill the tank in April 2014 and it's only just ran out I don't think it is that bad on fuel.
Heffalump
My problem is that I want a converted boat like Ling. In fact - ling would be perfect with an undersheet conversion. However, I could not agree with the conversion of a boat such as Ling.

magnetman
Ling is very nice I agree with heffalump it would be a bit rude to stick a conversion on it but a full length unconverted motor is a bit of an unusual thing for someone to want. Rob-M
I would buy Ling if I could afford it although I'm not sure my wife would approve of an unconverted boat.

FMC Ling 317
Shh stop! So you don't want to know about door in bow cabin so access into a theoretical undercloth conversation would be available. This said she has never been converted
AMModels
I love Ling, have done since she was the maintenance boat on the S&W, even when BW chopped that chunk out of her gunnels in the early 90's for some reason only they know about she was still gorgeous. All the work done since has only improved her imo, price is reasonable too for a josher motor. If I win the lottery friday I'll be in touch. I agree it would be terrible to stick a conversion on Ling, but I must be a bit unusual as a full length unconverted motor is exactly what I would have if her indoors would let me get away with it. Mike Tee
I don't see a problem with converting an old working boat. It can always be cut off in the future. It will be used and not left to rot away. Being used, it will probably be well maintained. I would much rather recycle than buy new.

Yes I should have said a bit of an unusual thing for someone's misses to let them buy I imagine there are quite a few people who would 'want' it but that doesn't translate to buyers. An undercloth conversation is a good idea - perhaps a conversation about how nice the boat is
