  1. Looking at the map, it seems to be showing that you can't get from the GU to the South Stratford as it's closed from Bridge 64 up to the junction. Is that correct?
  2. Totally off topic but, is anyone else reading this thread and wondering "What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
  3. There is an amazing British Pathé video somewhere of a boat on the canals in London. I've not seen it for years but if I emerge correctly it was being towed by one of the old towpath tractors and went in the region of 10mph (edit.....not quite....9mph). I'm hoping someone knows the video I mean and has a link to it. Edit - found it! CANAL CRUISE - British Pathé https://share.google/eHloU5mDYnYqKSBTE
  4. That picture is from a good few years ago. That's me on the outside in the two tone T-shirt.
  5. A lovely original old can. No idea about the painter though. Doesn't look like a known or traditional artist to me. I rather like it though.
  6. It's really not the most attractive of liveries is it. I suppose it is a bit different though. The colours on the counter would really take some getting used to.
  7. Thank you. So very similar to their current livery then.
  8. Does anyone know what the livery of Wyvern Shipping was in the 60s and 70s please?
  9. And two more at crazy prices. https://ebay.us/m/9DiFEx https://ebay.us/m/PadyV6 I bought an identical can and handbowl (same painter) plus a little 1 gallon can (which is nothing special) two days ago. Paid £50 total for all three! Edit to add: I tell a lie, the one I bought the other night was a three gallon, not two like the one listed above. Yes, I spotted that. I actually really like it, but he'd need to take the zero off the end.
  10. https://ebay.us/m/8ljK2x A reserve of £750 no less. Someone is living in cloud cuckoo land. (Though if anyone wants almost identical but on a better can, I'll do you one for a bargain price of £700!)
  11. Thanks all. It would be perfect for someone who wants to boat all summer and have somewhere to come back to in the winter with their boat directly outside; all while generating a bit of income from the other moorings. It's all owned by my Father. He used to run Cassio Marina until he retired last year. He's now looking to move to be closer to family.
  12. The property is in Berkhamsted on the Grand Union. It's a ground floor flat with an over 55 restriction. It's on a long leasehold. The flat opens up onto the moorings. The moorings are freehold, about 120ft length by 20ft wide strip of land in the town centre. It's a 5 minute walk to Berkhamsted Station. It is an old wharf and owned up to the edge. Services are present. There are no end of garden mooring fees payable and there is the right to moor up to 14ft width (one widebeam or two narrowboat breasted up). All the necessarily legal confirmations and documents are in place. Previously three moorings were let out, but it's now just our boat(s) that have been there for the last couple of years. As I feared, there are no obvious estate agent options with relevant expertise it would seem. Many thanks
  13. Liberon Iron Paste is very good stuff.
  14. Does anyone have experience of any particular estate agents that operate in Hertfordshire that have been good at selling canalside property please? Looking to sell, not to buy. Many thanks
  15. Just realised it's the wrong way around. I think that confirms it. Even got the wonky exhaust!
  16. Anyone know which boat this is?
  17. Renton attached to the beam and not the wooden planks.
  18. Same style on Renton, but not clear enough to see. Not sure whose picture this is, so credit to the respective owner.
  19. Here is the picture I couldn't post all those years ago. And a couple of British Waterways pictures as well.
  20. For those who know the boat, it has an element of historic interest. Plenty of info' on here about it's history.
  21. Not sure if this has already been posted. https://www.apolloduck.co.uk/boat/narrow-boats-traditional-for-sale/785928
  22. Thanks all, Having had different controls on different boats over the years, I'm looking for some options and just wondered if there was anything that historically might have been used but had been largely lost in the mists of time. That's rather good. I had a far less fancy version on Satellite.
