That fence is no real deterent to a thief. I can get through it in a minute or so with the right bit of kit. It would be more secure with a third rail. Why people put steel pallisade fencing up is beyond my comprehension it can only give a false sence of security. Fine welded steel mesh is much more secure and more pleasing aesthetically but that only needs a battery powered angle grinder to get through it.

Like the ones used on the London Underground? 🤣😅

Never really understood why that bungalow has so much featureless lawn surrounding it. Looks a prime opportunity to build a few 4-bed houses in the garden and make a fortune!

I'm sure they must have thought of that....

Today the bungalow looks like this.

I've forgotten to get pics the last two times we've gone by, saved me a job :D

At least someone's working on it, on one pass we've seen one lad filling a skip and the other time it looked like building inspectors were on site. Half expected it to be one of those retrospective planning jobs where they were supposed to rebuild a bungaloid but it had oddly gained a floor and spread out somewhat, shortly followed by demolition again. I'm such a cynic.

HS2 was to go between the canal and the river but the proposed route has been abandoned, at least for the foreseeable future.

The house adjoining is/was also for sale but a shorter mooring I think. I know these properties.

No utilities, and no land vehicle access.

Its an odd one as in the estate agent photo there does seem to be a road vehicle in the image.

Presumably farmer Giles keeping an eye on it it.

Not that easy to see if it is a car but it looks a bit like a HiLux or something. There basically is access but the farmer is ransoming it.

I wonder how much it would be worth with the vehicle access.

£300k? ;)

There's a trampoline the other side of the fence line too. The image of the property boundary on the map (presumably Land Registry) doesn't align with the fence line on the map, which is unusual.

Had an interesting chat quite a few years ago with the then owner about his work setting up the off grid (with diesel generator backup) systems he had installed, before such things were widely available. It must have been reasonably effective as he sold ice creams.

Is that a sewage treatment works beside the house?

Access utilities or not its been sold - was on the for sale sign as we passed by late last week.

Is this accessible by Nb, is it just at the limit of navigation? Where is the weir? Perhaps the new owner could fund a lock!

Edit, its well abovestream of  the weir- lock building skills essential.
