magnetman
Is it the back of an old motor which has been cut off for conversion of the fore end into a butty Tim wood (wood hall heward) has in the past had odd little pusher tugs made from cut down leisure narrow boats I think. Maybe the item in the flat barge beside Tadworth is one of them. I imagine JR ALSOP would know the answers Edited August 22, 2015 by magnetman
J R ALSOP
Yes its for another Lenny, Buttercup or Stanley type work boat 14feet x 6'10 ins. fits sideways in lock behind 80ton hopper.
mark99
Had a decent look at those two parts of boat in stinkole today. Seems to be both of same one boat and by the looks of the form of the bow of no historical or aesthetic value. magnetman
This is nice https://m.apolloduck.com/feature.phtml?id=417581 I always liked Thames lighters and this is pretty similar to a Thames lighter but with a motor. And with sails. Much too wide for my current residential mooring though
koukouvagia
There's a glut of historic boats for sale listed in the latest HNBC magazine: Effingham, Satellite, Greenlaw and Sandbach. Not sure if these have been noted here before.

stagedamager
Effingham is looking fantastic. Pete has done a lot of work on her and the price is very fair for the condition. I'm at Langley Mill so will try and grab a picture or two!

magnetman
This is rather pleasing (to me) https://m.apolloduck.com/advert.phtml?id=441652 Wonder if motorising it would be an option? Its got a pool table Edited September 2, 2015 by magnetman
Liam
No motorisation is definitely not an option !!
magnetman
Was considering the potential for a hydraulic drive unit mounted on a rudder Bit of a large boat to do that with so you are probably right. Maybe twin outboard motors and a girlie button to get the front in the right place

Cloudinspector
Does this count as historic or just interesting? https://m.apolloduck.com/advert.phtml?id=441234
magnetman
I think historic has to be pre 1960 or something like that. Not sure if that's a rolling date or not - at some point 1970s narrow boats will be historic boats in theory as will all modern boats (if there are any left by then) (Speculation as I have not got a clue)
Jay4424
"Not suitable as a live a board" .... why the duck not? our butty is our complete home, its brillant! more space for not having gunwales, engine or propshaft!!
