  3. He's just thick. This is going to sound awfully snobby, but I've taken to doing my single weekly shopping at a quiet time in a nearby M&S food. It's expensive but they have everything I want and the high prices seems to put off the majority of brain dead idiots. Everyone in there so far has been very considerate, and the aisles are wide. The only exceptions being people who don't need to be shopping at all. In front of me in the queue the other day was a man who was buying an orchid. Nothing else, just an orchid. Presumably an ESSENTIAL orchid. Anyway, I don't mind spending more on food right now. I'm not spending money on anything else, so I may as well have nice food.

  9. Making a silver lining out of the state were in still.Got the cabin lifted now for the heads and few other jobs.I just wish i used the Polisher on the last project, it is better / quicker than the Carbide tipped discs i use in the grinder.First i blocked up the front Hatch, dont need it as the new windows are removable for an escape if the worst happens. Just a matter to taper back and fill with loads of CSM and Woven, i say tnhta as the shell is around 10mm thick here. Next then is the pig of a hole that the stove flue came out, just not an even surface, dont knowe what i am moaning about, it was easy enough. What makes it uneven is the top is double sandwich construction with two 8mm layers of wood of sorts.Just used what i could find in foam to shape the profile. As you can see there is a little left of a rail mount , it make me wonder why folk do these things and leave a bit, anyway off it comes, will be making a new one and poss more as some ;look a bit dodgy So time to laminate it all up, in section/layers as it was thick and to much to do it one go, when laminating its get hot with the chemical reaction. As you ca n see in that pic i have done the lift and here we are 6 inch /150mm lift for the Heads And like magic Next to do if i can find materials in the `boat yard` is i want to make the hardtop canopy. If i cant i will sort the top screen as that will be collapsible.Luvin it I have been thinking, well changing my mind like i do, on what to do with the cockpit, i was going to go all wood, but now its full GRP bulkheads and floor with wood seat/lockers.The GRP will give more support to the shell as i wil be adding knees aswell for 2m/7foot either side of the cockpit bulkheads to brace even more. aswell as run cables/pipe work through.Back to sleepless nights Captain Faffer ( Youtube name )

  18. Nice gesture but it would be more useful to do something about crowded towpaths and give the hard pressed NHS a real helping hand.

  19. It depends what you mean by stopping. Stopping finding another theory or stopping trying to disprove one? If all the theories on a topic fall down because a fact discounts one of the key assumptions on each theory, then the one left standing has to be a contender for what is happening. If you cant find any other theories that fit the data then that one left standing is the best description of what is happening. That is how science works. In this particular article, it would be interesting to see the data that disproves the theory (if there is any). I must read Mike's last link!

  23. I don’t. All that would achieve would be to allow the lesser-infected areas to rise up to equal the more heavily infected areas. It needs squashing everywhere, not simply in the worst areas.

  24. Multiple earth points around the hull WILL allow any small leakage currents to flow via the hull. Current flow in the hull will give rise to galvanic corrosion. Houses being made of wood and brick do not suffer from galvanic corrosion. Therefore what may be a good idea in a house is a bad idea in a boat.

  30. Med Cram videos seem to go back several years, and seem mainly directed at practitioners. The site seems reputable, and it would be hard to see it lasting for years if it were not. Since the start of the pandemic, this guy has produced on an almost daily basis, and they are numbered as Update xx, (52 in this case). They were not daily for a week or so, a short time ago, as he was on duty as a specialist in his ICU department. I suppose you/we could go back to Update 1, I think I've watched them from about 32, and it is surprising that, almost as soon as something is questioned here, he pops up with some kind of discussion in his videos - I might exaggerate, but he discussed the healthdata.org forecasting site two vids ago, and the Heem thing in this one. There are many, many, sources of info on this thing on TV and the internet, so none of us can look at more than a little. I've chosen this set of videos as one of my "Go To's".

  31. I think I've told this tale before here, but it bears repeating: I might have been the person you describe when I went to the local shop a few weeks ago. We were short of vegetables and salad, so I went to the "One Stop". Before leaving, I asked if my wife needed anything else, - "hairspray, if you see any". The veg, salad, bread, and milk, shelves were empty, but I did find some hairspray of the correct brand. So the only thing I bought was a can of non essential hairspray. In fact, given the state of my head, you would have thought it the most non essential thing ever purchased I definitely felt guilty, and made it clear to the cashier that it wasn't what I'd come for. I did, however, get lots of brownie points when I got home. I came home with the one thing Janet had been certain I wouldn't have So spare a kind thought for the guy with the non essential orchid - he may not have been able to find the essential/s he came for and, one thought that crosses my mind is that, it might have been the last thing he ever bought for his loved one

  32. I think that there may be a little jumping the gun and special pleading here. Once the matter was reported to the council it has no option but to initiate action in accordance with listed building law. (I'd better not say too much about my experiences of some heritage officers . . . but most are realistic) However, the Councillor also says that they are looking for a way forward that will satisfy as many people as possible. The formal letter is just the opening salvo in what could, if the owners choose it, be a lengthy and expensive saga

  34. 9. Our obligations 9.1 We will do our best to keep the Waterway open for navigation, but closures may be required as a result of occasional unforeseen events or essential maintenance and repair work. Except in emergencies or for other unavoidable reasons, we shall try to arrange our maintenance work to cause you the least disruption. This means that most work requiring closures will be done between the beginning of November and the end of March. There may be other occasions when, due to causes beyond our reasonable control, we have to close part or (exceptionally) all of the Waterway. 9.2 The Licence fees are calculated on the assumption that you will be affected by closures from time to time and accordingly refunds of Licence fees will not be made for closures as described in this Condition 9.

  36. I may not have expressed myself well. You have a situation in the real world that is not understood. Various theories "explaining" this situation are developed. These may include the correct one or they may all be wrong/incomplete - it may be the case that our knowledge insufficient to provide the correct theory. In either case the methodology for picking the best one remains the same, you try to knock the others down. The one remaining is the best explanation of the facts and you act as if it is correct until a better one comes along.

  42. But it IS being reported in mainstream media. Next time I encounter it I'll bung up a link. I put this up as it gives more detail than the newspaper articles. And no it's not peer reviewed, tested etc. or anything like that, its just being seen as an avenue for investigation. You can ignore it, shoot it down as much as you like. If its rubbish, we need to know. Are you a doctor by the way, or in any way qualified to condemn it out of hand as not worthy of even looking into? I'm very curious about why this account has been suspended though. As you point out, they don't care about the accuracy of what it posted so why the suspending of it?

  46. I would suggest that in clean water (low conductivity) with the boat insulated from a metal mooring or against a wooden or plastic mooring then there is no guarantee the RCD will trip. Hopefully it would trip if you made a circuit between boat and metal mooring but i would not like to risk it. Basically I tend to distrust marina RCDs because of the abuse they can be subject to.
