  1. If they start doing that they could do away with speed cameras. Imagine, you fill up with fuel at say 09:00, speed off down the road and stop at a shop, 60 miles away an hour later to buy something. AI calculates that by sticking to the speed limits you should have arrived no sooner than an hour and 10 minutes later, so issues you with a fine based on credit card spend times...
  2. On the coolant question, the actual difference in volumetric heat capacity between a 33% and 50% mix is only around 7% to 8%. So the difference is negligible and worth the trade-off for the extra protection, IMO. As for the TRVs, many have small internal valve seats that restrict flow just by design, even when they are fully open. They are also not instant on/off switches. Depending on the model, the maximum setting might have a full shut-off around 26°C (or slightly higher), meaning it starts expanding and driving the pin down several degrees earlier than that, towards a gradual full shut-off. If heat rising directly off the radiator reaches the thermostat valve, the valve will start throttling flow and choking circulation long before the boat itself is anywhere near the set temperature. As I mentioned before, TRVs are poor practice on a Webasto installation.
  3. Well, Im not sure why it has to be one invertor dedicated to one fridge,, do you mean two on the boat? Why not three , I have a small Victron invertor I thought I needed to charge my phone , but now i think my USB is connected somehow to the Domestics , and the phone has not melted. Any fridge, well maybe most fridges, I believe have a start up requirement, so just reading the data sheet quickly may lead you astray. There are loads of posts on fridges/ types / voltages / wiring / investors. Please make sure you know what you need, it is not an easy choice DAMHIK I have a 12v Dometic, the boat was wired for that purpose. Whatever you do , make sure there is plenty of ventilation, or it will run constantly when the boat is warm and drain the batteries 😀 (and wake you up at night 🌙)
  4. There is always some fraud/evasion in any field of business, but that doesn't mean that most businesses -- or even a significant number -- are fraudulent. The consequences if they're found out can be severe, of course the question is what is the chance of them being a) found out b) prosecuted... 😉 DIYers are a different matter, they don't have any professional liability (or insurance) except to themselves and "duty of care" doesn't apply like it does with employees or customers -- in the same way that someone employed as a tree surgeon has to be trained and provided with protective equipment (e.g. chain mail trousers/gauntlets), where I can just go into Toolstation and buy one and then go home and chop my own leg off with it while wearing shorts and flip-flops. Do you have any evidence that such "fitout fraud" is common, especially amongst professional boat builders/fitters? Like claiming "all politicians are corrupt", one example or two doesn't prove this, given the number of boats built/fitted out each year (hundreds?)... 😉 P.S. I also wouldn't be surprised if some especially pernickety BSS inspectors take the same view in future as MHS if inspecting a boat built after 2025, that if they're being asked to sign the boat off as safe it needs to be "compliant" with the Gas Safe rules. It's certainly not unheard of for BSS inspectors to insist on things which aren't legally required before they'll pass a boat... 😉
