Lots of which is ignoring/misinterpreting what I wrote, and which ignores the key issue at the heart of the matter... :-( Please quote exactly where in the regulations it says what you claim -- that a gas appliance like a hob or oven must be specifically approved ("marine certified") by the manufacturer for use on a boat in order to be legally installed there. I've looked and looked and I can't find such a requirement anywhere, only that boat gas installations must be safe and meet all the relevant laws, none of which says this. This is not the same as following the MI (Manufacturer's Instructions), which is a requirement -- if they say the appliance is not suitable for boat installation then it's not, no argument from anyone, you can't override the MIs -- as you say. But there's a big legal difference between this and requiring it to be specifically approved. Nothing to do with personal attacks, just asking you to show that what you claim is a legal requirement which is clearly written down, not your interpretation of it. If you choose to take a rigorous interpretation of what you consider safe when making or testing installations then that is entirely your right, as I pointed out several times -- of course all installers are required to meet the rules and not make an unsafe installation. But if this -- specific approval being required -- is your interpretation and not legal fact then you should make this clear -- and that also means that other installers are entitled to interpret things differently to you, so long as they do this without breaking the rules or ignoring MIs or making an installation unsafe. Facts not opinion, please -- because this has a big effect on boaters who want to know what the actual law says, so that they can avoid breaking it. And I assume other installers think the same -- and it has to be pointed out that their opinions of what is safe/legal do seem to differ from yours, which means either that they're all wrong and breaking the law (which seems unlikely) or that your statement is wrong. It goes without saying that if you can quote such a written legal requirement, you have my apology for doubting what you said... :-)
