  5. I think this is almost certainly the cottages at Tusses Bridge, Coventry (north Oxford canal), photographed before the bridge was widened in the 1920's/30's. The buildings are very traditional Warwickshire in style and detailing (the diaper pattern brickwork is very distinctive) and the form of the buildings match (the row of cottages to the left were demolished in the 1970's/80's, but the two nearest the canalside survive, though rendered and with different windows. 11. I thought while I isolate... and wait for the Severn to open... I'd have a go at making myself some blinds. The front is green hessian and the back is blackout material. Both from https://g.co/kgs/vhqdjH Great shop/warehouse not far from the cut Thick wadding from Dunelm Mill between the fabrics to give the saggy hessian a bit of "body" and maybe get better insulation. Stick of wood at the top and reused brass rod sewn in at the bottom Press stud at the bottom and top straps My sewing isn't great but I'm happy enough to carry on with the rest of the windows

  12. During World wars I and II,American foot soldiers were only issued about 10 individual squares of toilet paper to keep backpack weight and volume to a minimum. If a soldier needed to wipe his butt,he would take one square of toilet paper and fold it into quarters. He would then tear out a semicircular portion from the common corner which left a hole in the middle of the paper when unfolded. He would then stick his forefinger through the hole and wipe his ass with the protruding finger. The paper was grasped at the base of the finger with the free hand while the soiled finger was slowly pulled free of the paper. The contaminated square was then discarded and the corner previously removed was used to clean from under the fingernail.

The development of a effected vaccine will be through international collaboration

  20. Ever considered that your superior country may be the first to manufacture such a vaccine? If and when a vaccine becomes available it WILL be made available to everyone anyway. To suggest otherwise is yet more scaremongering and we have oodles of that at present.

  35. I don’t plan on producing a how to video, but written instructions can be given, if someone finds their stock of toilet paper is becoming scarce.

  36. Picked the boat up this morning, he showed me the old copper rings which hadn't had anything added to them, and you could see where the leaks had been. All seems fine now to my grest relief. He's done s lot of tidying up and adjusted one of the cylinders. The quote was £500 and the final price less than half that. And from a marina too.

  41. I have explicitly checked with MLC: a Gold License does cover permanent mooring on the Middle Levels. The documentation is a bit confusing .

  43. I would only use a sealer if I were reusing an old copper gasket and even then I would try to anneal it first. Can't ever remember using sealer on the SLs.

  44. When we had our house built I discussed with the builders the possibility of U/F heating and he advised "Don't even think about it" He suggested that you needed to switch it on at least 24 hours before you needed any heat, and when you switch it off because it was a 'warm day' it could take up to a couple of days to cool down. Too long to heat up when it's a 'cold snap' and too long to cool down when you get a 'warm couple of days'. Waste of time and money. The Dog has found the underfloor track of the pipes feeding the radiators and is happy with his 'underfloor heating'.

  45. Yes but on the face of it they are using that same system now for things like toilet rolls, in that it gets allocated to you and you then can not change the quantity. It’s just it did not work, now of course I have no idea when they last had any toilet rolls delivered.

  46. Not quite. He says the tide will have turned in 12 weeks, so presumably it then needs to record for another 4 months. Think November, not June if all goes well. Paternity leave actually.

  47. Next one - check for fuel as the process of transhipping may have dislodged crud in the tank so no fuel getting through - check whatever filters you have
