THE BATCHWORTH BOAT RALLY, RICKMANSWORTH May 17
THE BATCHWORTH BOAT RALLY, RICKMANSWORTH

This rally was started in 2024 when at very short notice the huge Rickmansworth Festival was cancelled. The Waterspace team decided to keep the boat gathering but as a much smaller event. With some enthusiastic parters it was a huge success in 2024.

So Next year as an appropriate "Theme" for the times we are Calling all GUCCCo, FMC, Severn & Canal boats.particularly those built in 1935 as next year the Batchworth Boat Rally would like to see them all gathering at Batchworth in Rickmansworth to celebrate their 90 years.
The rally will take place on 17/18th May, two weeks after the cavalcade at Little Venice.
Please put the date in your calendar for next year and drop us an email then we will make sure to include you on the mailing list when bookings open in January.

Eight hours a day in November is ambitious. You'll find you need to stop along the way for water, toilet, shopping, diesel, lunch etc. The Rembrandt Gardens moorings are on the far side of the pool from where you come in. If you've booked a space it will most likely be available. Canalplan.org.uk is a good planning web site.

Indeed it is my opinion. I know his Dad has recently died of Alzheimer's and that is very sad, but lots, including me go through this, its life. I cant imagine the likes of Thatcher/Blair etc tearing up at their party conference..... i think this was just a little manipulative, but it seems to have worked...

Hmm, what I wrote is obviouslynot what I meant to say.. What I meant was that a wing with a section like the one in the drawing (heavily curved top, flat bottom -- to demonstrate the Bernoulli effect) or a flat one like Nick described relying solely on angle of attack for lift will both be less efficient than a typical and more symmetrical section with some camber which use both effects to generate lift, which is why real planes use these -- as explained in the link. BTW what you said is also wrong -- a wing with a dead flat bottom and zero angle of attack won't have any pressure rise underneath, only lower pressure on top (pure Bernoulli effect)...

In your opinion. In my opinion you are wrong. And yes, it was a rather spiteful dig.

You might struggle to find a mooring in Uxbridge, but Denham should be fine - either above or below the lock. Whereabouts? You just moor on the towpath side. Below Denham Deep lock in 2008. It might be a bit more crowded these days.

We are planning to bring our boat from Croxley Green to Broxbourne early November and would appreciate advice on planning the route and more specifically where to stop! First day would hopefully be 4 hours cruising before nightfall I presume that might get us somewhere near Denham am I likely to find anywhere to moor? wherabouts? After that given the short days in November and unwillingness to cruise after dark I am assuming 8 hours maximum per day. So next day Little Venice, I have booked a visitor mooring, whereabouts on Delamere terrace are the bookable ones - am I likely to find it vacant or are these regularly squatted on? After that if the Hertford Union is open suggestions please as to likely places on the Lea presumably around Tottenham? If the Hertford union is not open I assume Limehouse is the best bet? Thanks 43' x 10'
