Canal badges

No screws in the original photo but there is now I have started to put them in my summer house

Just been looking through those and noticed the repetition of design. I don't think those lock gates represent Hatton, Marple or Foxton. Also the same boat for Gas Street and Droitwich, ignoring the slightly dubious historic claim that there was such a thing as the Droitwich Canals in 1854. And 217ft for Tardebigge is also questionable.

 

But have you been to the head of the Pocklington canal by boat, and after having started at the other end?

Hi I have been to pocklinton head  a few times as I only live about 20 miles from there it’s a very nice walk along the cut  with the dog 

But I have never been buy boat  it’s not passable  all the way with some locks dilapidated

The plaques are nice to have just as a reminder where you have been over the years

Well I've been on all the waterways depicted in the OP, but only ever aquired one plaque, which is conspicuously missing in the pic.  It never got put up, languished under a pile of books, and was still there when I sold the boat.  I wonder if you can guess which canal it was?  I've mentioned it often enough.

We normally get them from chandlers  on the way around the canals we go on

but if you want to cheat there on the net all you would ever want

Somewhere I've got one that Concoform Marine of Weedon gave me for travelling up the Grand Union, North Oxford and Ashby canals back in the late 70's.

 

Never got round to putting it up anywhere though.

Cool thanks but no cheating, doesn’t feel right unless you’ve been there!

 

There we’re some plaques the previous owner took I didn’t mind as wasn’t my telling a story of my journey.

Here’s the only one we’ve recently earned, 😎there are several others on our boat all similar to the OPs. Many are also available from the shop at Braunston bottom lock. 
Ive seen some lovely early IWA rally ones that appear to be partially enamelled. 
They do provide nice memories surely? 
 

 

It’s not just boaters that have these sort of things though

My vast collection, I’ve other BCN plaques somewhere 🤷‍♀️

 

What I don’t have is the BCN boat number/plaque for my hull. 

Could it either be on someone’s wall at home or even worse on someone’s modern copy tug boat?

It looks like you are into cars and racing  so am I  for about 12 years I raced  all over the country at different tracks doing 

car grass track .

after that I built a road going lotus 7 type car and had that for about 10 years  going to different shows until I hurt my back .

do you have any more photos of your collection

It’s my friend really, I go along as the navigator 🤣. That’s a clubhouse in Northern France that was a check point recently on the way.

I have a number of generic plaques for waterways I have travelled (in a box somewhere on the boat) but the two that stand out to me are for attendance at Birmingham National Rally of Boats 1969 and Dudley Tunnel Reopening in 1973.
