  1. Pretty quiet, took the boat out for an amble after some major works, busy around Nantwich over the weekend with a few traders doing good business but in general between Hurleston and Audlem there is very little moving. Suprised me how quiet some of the popular weekend mooring spots were.
  2. Same spot as in 2018 when it was supposed to have had an extensive repair during the winter closures.
  3. My marina states that in low temperatures they may switch off the water to the pontoons but they maintain a working supply at the service dock, although in a deep freeze boats would have difficulty navigating to it. That said the on board occupancy during the winter is no more than a few dozen at any time.
  4. The route you would take, T & M to Middlewich, Middlewich branch To Hurleston, would not be affected by any stoppages on the Shroppie. The current stoppages are Bridge 80 near Audlem which should be completed by Easter and the other major stoppage is between Whartons Lock and Beeston Lock which is expected to be in place until Summer. Neither would affect your proposed trip.
  5. I believe the breach near Chas Hardern will not be completed until summer. The other stoppage is not Hack Green but Bridge 80 near Audlem, this is expected to be completed by Easter.

  7. Been there just over 4 years and never had a problem with the manager, one of the most cheerfull and helpful chaps I have met although one or two of the staff past and present can be a challenge, I just rise above it.

  13. Quote from the council "Although the pumps did not fail, the road’s storage tanks were full and, with the surrounding land saturated, there was nowhere to safely discharge the water without causing problems elsewhere"
  14. I don't think even in days of old, lengthsmen could have prevented this or even have the staff on the ground. That particular day was horrific with the volume of water falling from the sky and I would imagine that all CRT ground staff were running in all directions. With regard to the shroppie, such was the volume of water that the lock paddles on Hurleston were opened to stop the reservoir from overflowing, the temporray dam at Bridge 80 was removed to allow the massive flow from Audlem to come through, River Weaver was about to top the banks and a large number of CRT staff were i

  18. Don't forget that the actual boundary at Chirk is not at the English end of the aqueduct but is but actually half way across the aqueduct, the river below being the boundary between England and Wales. Its probable worth cruising the banned extra hundred yards to wind at the tunnel entrance.

  22. Or better still moor between bridges 7 and 8, plenty of rings and not shaded, 25 minute brisk walk into Brewood
  23. Same engine as mine, I have just clocked 14,000 hrs and the engine is 15 years old, getting a service when I remember, usually around 300 hrs.
