  3. Bob was talking crap again! The problem I find is that wifey stands 1-2 meters in front of the trolley browsing the 101 boxes of eggs that all look the same, trying to decide which one to touch ......and then tentitively open ...then tentitively swap for another one .....and repeat.... with hubby standing 1-2 meters behind the trolley with eyes rolling looking at the ceiling therefore blocking about 3-4 meters of isle space for 5 minutes. If hubby does it on his own, he is in and out in 15 seconds. Hubby does get shouted at when he gets home as he has bought all the wrong stuff!

  5. Absolutely not the fault of the Fountains boys and girls working the mowers and strimmers. Probably not even the fault of their gaffer who sent them out. Probably the fault of CaRT signing a contract with Fountains that says the tow path is to be mowed N times a year, with no stipulation that this is to be during the growing season. Jen

  11. Hello all. I thought I'd post an update six months on from my original message - it feels like a long time ago since I started this thread and I expect most people have forgotten what it is all about and my situation. I'm still in my mid-30s, single and no dependants, so no change there! But other things have changed a little since my last post. A long story short is that I sold my home in November. I'm due to exchange and complete by the end of this month. Having decided to shelve the liveaboard plan in the middle of last year for the reasons given, I instead plann

You will all be pleased to now that even though its minus 4 here on the Oxford and completely white over with a solid frost completely covering the solid ground that Fountains are here this morning not only walking along with big lawn mowers but also strimming. We all know its best time to do it when its solid ice and not growing

  13. The idea is that people STAY AT HOME, shopping is an essential function, two people do not need to enter a supermarket to shop. That halves the risk, or if you want it in plain English, two people double the risk, it is unnecessary, ie one person is making a non essential journey. The number of shopping visits should be minimised, individually and nationally.

  16. Tesla (or rather Elon Musk) has everything in hand, they are leading, and will continue to lead, the push to get rid of ICE, once that is achieved they will back off. Their primary aim of leading EV takeup is not just to be the biggest but to stop the world burning fossil fuel, for the sake of the planet he can't be allowed to fail. IMO šŸ™‚

  20. So the chaps turn up and ring into the office saying its frozen solid and the boss says go home and no pay. What would you do if you were the mower operative. Maybe Fountains are a better company and sends them home on pay, would you still expect C&RT to pay for the work that should have been done that day. I was once on a building site where the chippy was hanging doors that were the wrong size for the frames, I asked him why. He said he gets paid to hang doors, if he doesn't hang doors he doesn't get paid, its not his fault the company who pays him to hang them sent the

  35. I've been trying to remember the last time I went into a shop. I now buy all my groceries online. I reckon the last time I went in a shop to buy was around september/october last year. The one except was about 3 weeks ago. I was out for a walk and I was desperate for the loo, there was a tesco so I went in to use that. I was genuinely shocked at how busy it was. Yes it was in the run up to Christmas, but there were big family groups just ambling around the shop with their masks round their chins. This was in a tier 3 area. I think it was at that point that fully realised ho

  36. Thanks Tony! That was another top suggestion. All changed now and indeed the new part is working, the heater is no longer cutting off as the flame coming out of the injector assembly is bigger. Iā€™m so thankful to you all! Going to have a shower!!! This has gone on for months...thanks!!!

  37. There's no reason why local authorities for example can't install chargers and supply electricity. Look at chargeplace Scotland for example. I guess it depends wether you think the costs should be paid by everyone, or people that use them. However I do think that public-run chargers should be charged at a price that pays for the initial installation and ongoing maintenance, I don't think they should be taxpayer funded in the long run (no issue with initial capital being provided by taxpayers, as long as this is paid back with interest). Electricity at market rates is unlikely to happen even if

  48. It is a no win situation, if the grass is left to grow people complain it is too long and needs cutting and if it is cut people complain it should be left to grow so I guess they are trying to keep as many people happy as they can. The problem with contracts is to write one to cover all scenarios will either be prohibitively expensive or no one would ever sign up to it.

It isn't uncommon for corrosion here to need attention and if it does you can decide what to do starting with a clean sheet. Not trying to present a doom like situation but it would be useful to assess whilst you are considering modifying that area.
