DaveP Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 On the cool side down in Banbury - fire lit every night since Tuesday; having just got back from Copenhagen where it was reaching 27C last weekend!
Hudds Lad Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 I've gone as far as putting a long sleeved shirt on at home, may consider a jumper if it drops below 15ºc, not nesh enough to put on the heating yet We did get some hail yesterday
canals are us? Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 Lit my fire the last 3 nights, last night kept it in. Nice to see the stove going and some warmth. James.
dogless Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 We lit the fire Monday evening and kept it in since. Lovely to get up to in the mornings . Looks like it'll be out again next week ... double figure overnight temps forecast 😊 Rog
robtheplod Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 I noticed the radiators at home came on yesterday........
Victor Vectis Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 I reckon we would have the fire lit if we were aboard.
Naughty Cal Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 Not dropped cold enough for our heating to come on yet. The joys of a modern property
PeterF Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 (edited) Had the Webasto running the last few evenings heading south on S&W, not cold enough to bother lighting the Refleks. Vollie at Bratch said he had got up to some frost. Edited September 13 by PeterF

I just bought a bag, "Bright?" delivered by a fellow boater, it was £13.00, he insisted, that was the correct price ex coal merchant. I had fire on last night, it's the flames and the warmth. I'm sawing up the remainder of my oak worktop, hard going.. Edited September 13 by LadyG
beerbeerbeerbeerbeer Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 Yeah, fire’s been lit, mainly to keep out the damp from the wet days and to cheer up the grey days of rain,
hider Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 My postings always seem to be to cold places in winter and the tropics in summer, someone hates me. I am dreading to think of where my next one will be.
matty40s Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 This is my Squirrel this week.. So it's been Eberspacher and oil fired radiator for last 2 nights. Went down to 1.2c last night and everything was white at 6am!! 1

Lily Rose Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 I woke up at 6 on Friday morning (at home in Oxfordshire) and asked Alexa what the temperature was. 0°C she replied. I haven't put the CH on (as the missus hasn't complained yet) but I'm sure if I'd been on the boat the fire would have been lit for the first time since May. I'm sure that would have the earliest I'd lit it after summer.
gatekrash Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 We've had the stove in a couple of times at home this week, including tonight, earliest I can remember lighting in September. We have had it lit in June before though 😀
NarrowboatTor Posted September 14 Report Posted September 14 Woke up at 2am and the roof sensor said 3.6'c brrrrr, inside it was 13'c and dropping, time to turn the heating on (been switched off until now). Webasto fired up with a cosy 19'c after a few hours work, that's better. Time to check the chimney and give it a quick brush I think. Napton location too. 😊

But it wasn't properly on, I use a coal cage to reduce the heat output. So although I am nesh compared to a Yorkshireman, I'm not as nesh as them southerners. 1
Naughty Cal Posted September 14 Report Posted September 14 We very nearly caved in at home last night. It was warm enough in the kitchen but on the chilly side in the living room. It's red hot again now the sun is out shining on the house. Got all the windows open 🙄 No doubt it will drop cool again later but we are staying in the kitchen tonight which is always warmer so doubt the heating will go on today.

Getting up the flight tomorrow, hoping to stock up at a marina but at least if we get to Fenny we'll be in range of Bob

dogless Posted September 15 Report Posted September 15 We let the fire out yesterday ... just too warm in the sunshine. A healthy 14 degrees in the boat this morning but the sun's shining on us again ... we'll warm up and it would be much too hot with the fire. Double figures overnight again this week 👍🏻 Rog
LadyG Posted September 15 Report Posted September 15 There must have been an inch of rain today, towpath now flooded, it just won't stop.
beerbeerbeerbeerbeer Posted September 15 Report Posted September 15 Have you moved up out that dodgy pound?
