Just come back down and off the Ashby dire shortage of rubbish disposal points , cheers CRT, so put used cat litter into coal bag not wanting it inside put it on top overnight some skanky git nicked it ,must have thought it was half bag coal , found it couple of boat lengths up the tow path chucked it I guess when realised not as thought LOL

Smoke has started to sleep out of the secondary damper at the rear of the stove for no apparent reason when the ash pan door is open. It's in the closed position and rarely used. Has a seal gone inside or.....??

Is anyone else struggling with Excel coal it was all I could get this week but the burn is slow,poor heat and loads of ash .Switched back to Newheat. Coal soo much hotter at same damper position and lower ash ??

Double wrap in foil after rubbing in salted butter toss into ash/ front of stove 30/40 mins

Mooring at hartshill for a change walked up to the malt shovel what a great pub always gone passed here cause atherstone etc is soo close missed a gem ,top class beer and good food reasonable price . Top stop this trip ...

Heading north ,after Ashby,will pass start of Caldon canal is it worth a look ? Not a canal I have seen\heard much about

Heading for the Ashby from Fazely direction is there a coal boat about this /next week .

No drama overnight mooring at minworth not ideal with road noise but we was ready to stop Hopwas tonight Insha and a pint or two.

Hi Thanks for the mooring advise /master class LOL Had our 4days in Brum centre moved on now at minworth top lock for the night. Great passage down farmers bridge and Aston . Loved the catacombs at snow hill ,art work etc Overall good experience in Birmingham lunch at the Ivy ,beers at the canal side pub gas st Basin, made bacon sarnies and shared with the three st people collecting change close to mailbox and boat.

Got to Birmingham no drama moored gas st close to mailbox no drama .only issue two trip boats zooming past at speed racing to turn first no thought for moored board tried to speak to the skippers got the finger .... World apart those who drive boats for a profession and those who are a professional skipper!!!!!!!
