Sea Dog Posted June 27, 2024 Report Posted June 27, 2024 Nice to hear that - I'll put it back on the list!
PCSB Posted June 27, 2024 Report Posted June 27, 2024 It was closed the first time we went past. I think its new management now, we stopped there January this year and had a good meal and decent beer.
nealeST Posted June 27, 2024 Report Posted June 27, 2024 (edited) I ate there last night with my wife and kids. Meat free burgers were excellent and the fish n chips also very good. Was busy, lots of reserved tables, staff very pleasant. It was recommended to us on the way back, passing earlier in the week I didn’t particularly think it looked all that great. Actually much nicer once you get off the boat and walk back over via the bridge. Edited June 27, 2024 by nealeST Off instead of if…
Mike Tee Posted June 28, 2024 Report Posted June 28, 2024 Back in the 60's The Mitre in King Street, Northampton was a real shady boozer! Fond memories.
Quattrodave Posted June 28, 2024 Report Posted June 28, 2024 After reading the title I thought it was going to be about some dodgy arse pub to never visit 🤣 🤣
PeterF Posted June 28, 2024 Report Posted June 28, 2024 We had drinks and meal in there last year not long after new owners had taken over, good food, good beer, good service. It was quiet but business looks to be picking up as it should now it is well run.

I've been there many times and always tried to like it, but finally concluded I just don't. 1

rgreg Posted June 29, 2024 Report Posted June 29, 2024 I've had many great musical nights in the Anchor, High Offley, one only last weekend. It's a cracking pub in my opinion. 1
beerbeerbeerbeerbeer Posted June 29, 2024 Report Posted June 29, 2024 I enjoyed my month or so drinking in the Shady Oak one summer. Big car park so ideal if you’ve a car to shuffle about. I remember the terrace being really nice to sit out on. Lovely location.
Grassman Posted June 30, 2024 Report Posted June 30, 2024 In the winter of 2010 I was iced in outside that pub for a couple of weeks. There are worse places to be stuck of course, the trouble was that at the time the pub was only open at weekends.
