BEngo
We use Tesco (other supermarkets are available) non bio liquid in ours. Also used when we do a laundrette run for bigger stuff. Seems to get things clean enough for er inside. N
Alan de Enfield
We just use a 'suitable for 30 degree' powder from wherever we are shopping, be it Aldi or Asda. It doesn't seem to make much difference to the results.
LadyG
Ecover, is the brand to use if you are green. But a hot wash is best. Heat kills germs and washes better. Edited January 27, 2021 by LadyG

GUMPY
Fairy non bio pods is what we use at home and on the boat. I have had an allergic reaction to bio. Never use powder as it can build up deposits especially in washer dryers, always use a liquid. Only place we use bio is instead of blue in the Thetford. You never kill all the germs with a super hot wash. It just mean that the survivors are the toughest, meanest and nastiest ones, who are now sworn to revenge themselves on you for slaughtering their families and friends. Just thought you should all know that... Edited January 27, 2021 by Jen-in-Wellies 2

Some bottles of Ecover 1.5 litre zero non-bio laundry liquid may contain a dangerous level of potassium hydroxide with Tesco and Boots among the UK retailers who sell it. "The affected bottles contain potassium hydroxide at hazardous levels that can cause the bottle to leak,” the statement reads. “Contact with the liquid could result in harm to skin and eyes, including causing skin burns or eye damage. “We are taking this risk very seriously, and are recalling affected bottles from retailers and consumers immediately.” Not for me thank you Edited January 29, 2021 by Loddon
David Mack
A friend of mine once referred to the brown gritty sludgy Ecover hand cleaner as "wholemeal Swarfega".

I had the same conversation from someone from the Blue green imitative saying that Broads hire boats supplied Eco washing liquids but couldn't answer if they were any better than major brands because they hadn't actually investigated it, again going by the sales hype

My domestic crew assure me that the stuff to buy these days is Surcare Liquid. The good news is that for anyone suffering with skin allergies etc. it is probably the safest available. I'll try that, though I tend to go for what's on offer but rinse thoroughly with a sanitising rinse. I did notice my Ecover wash up liquid is not as efficient as it was, I mostly use Fairy with anti bacterial.

Machpoint005
We've recently (2-3 months ago) started using Smol detergent tablets and dishwasher tablets. They are non-bio and the packaging is biodegradable. Once you have signed up, a cardboard package comes through the letter box every few weeks. We're getting excellent results from both. smolproducts.com

Machpoint005
Har har. I thought English was your mother tongue! The tablets are each wrapped in water soluble biodegradable plant based polymer film, and you get them in a"child safe" clever cardboard box. That is why it used to have pictures of dolphins on the label. Changed after the animal lovers kicked up a fuss. This is the result. ?? No one sees it from the germs point of view. Good and bad germs are only our morally relative interpretation on a rich and diverse petri dish culture. "Bad" germs have rights too, except for Covid-19 of course. Anyway, BO helps with (anti)social distancing. ?
