  3. If you value it when boating, then renew it, if people don’t then they will not be around when you get back on the boat.

  11. Instead of "bright spark" try literate. As 16% of UK adults are functionally illiterate, then given the evidence that you can be seen fishing next to a notice saying "Don't" might easily suggest to a passer by that you fall into that minority group and you should be grateful for their benevolent assistance.

  19. I genuinely didn't see any issue before this thread and frankly still don't, sat on the back of my boat fishing, it can all be done without even stepping on the towpath. If the weather was decent and I had the time I would likely do it myself, it would stop me using the stale bread to make another bread/bread butter pudding as well

  26. Interestingly, "trolling" in the internet sense comes directly from trolling as a fishing method so could be both.

  33. The obvious thing to do is that form of fishing known as "trolling". Stick a rod in the cockpit with a line in the water with nothing on the end but a weight. Indistinguishable from fishing but with the advantage that it will infuriate watchers without breaking the prohibition. It will of course advance the spread of the virus just as much as actually fishing, ie zero.

  38. And with a dip in the canal under the bridge like that, short length boats might get through where long boats of the same airdraft might not.

  45. The OP might do well the bear in mind if he says nothing to anyone about any recent 'fit-out' that may or may not have happened, then the RCD definitely no longer applies. If he gets my drift.... Oh and it also depends on where the boat is and if it needs a licence.
