BIG QUESTION? I can think of others, but ok...

 

Never leave? That's slightly ambiguous. I assume you mean never take the boat out without, or do you mean never leave the boat unattended without having on board?

 

If it's the former it could be virtually anything onboard, but the equipment used to get the boat through locks is pretty essential. If it's the latter, then I would never leave the boat unattended without the locks on the doors and the bilge pumps.
