Ellesmere Wharf approved planning permission

Has the potential to be a decent development. Ellesmere is a funny old place and it feels to me like there's some untapped potential there. The warehouse at the top of the arm is a lovely old building and it would be good to see it rescued.

I'll have a proper look at the plans now.

.....the 80-bed hotel, would accommodate nearly 500 people when fully occupied.

It's going to be full then.....

To quote the article "while caravans and cabins, plus the 80-bed hotel, would accommodate nearly 500 people when fully occupied".

To me the development is too big for Ellesmere and i bet they dont want smelly boats near them.

If this is the same development as a year ago then it's upstream of the Arm and no where near the old warehouse at the end of the arm!

the plans were submitted in 2007 and only just been approved, it is the wharf they are developing.

Too true. Micro homes with postage stamp gardens. And at a premium as *new*. I worked for a house builder...

Ha! Do you know how many liveaboard narrowboaters are on this forum? This is the very last place I'd have expected to see moaning about the size of homes.

I've tried to link to it on dropbox and google drive and failed miserably.

Go here https://pa.shropshire.gov.uk/online-applications/search.do?action=simple&searchType=Application

Type "hotel, boating marina, leisure complex" into the keyword search.

Go to 'documents'

Click on the first 'Proposed Master Plan'
