Absolutly refuse to, every year I try to leave it till as late as possible, at least till October. Its just my personal challenge. Having said that I've seen a few people with there fires on.

I've seen two smoking chimneys in the marina last weekend. Not used the night heater in the truck yet, but did wake up chilly one night last week.

I must confess I have lit the fire ,mainly to burn some paperwork and added just a few handfuls of wood. Let the fire catch, turned right down and it took the chill of. My dogs make such a fuss if I have a proper fire before we get frost!!

Lit up several times in the evening in the past week, and once during the day. But we are sitting in Bugsworth at the moment...

Keep putting it off as having a nice trad engine it tends to warm the boat up for the evening...getting chilly in the mornings tho.

 

I reckon we will have lit it before the end of the week...I did stop at the excellent coal yard in gargrave because I thought this may happen....

Sort of, not lit the fire but did put the gas C/H on for an hour one night and also for an hour yesterady morning, its also on now for a bit.

I had a couple of log fires in the evening, whilst moored at Cropredy .Now back in marina it is 16.3c in boat at moment but sun coming up lowest last night was 14.9c .

We haven't needed any heating yet. (Though t'bote is well insulated)

Thermometer (saloon) reads 18C at the moment

 

Though over the last few days have noticed a few boats have passed us with their stoves on

Our diesel heating has fired up several mornings now. It's under automatic temperature control and takes the chill off boat for getting up.

The outside temperature gauge showed 13 C this morning. I'm a softy and love it warm!

Sitting in the basin at Chester in the full force of the chill wind has prompted Lemontoes to say "I think I'll look for a new chimney before we get home".

Yes, the slightly autumnal feel to the air has prompted me to buy a new chimney and even reseal and paint the stove!

 

It looks so good I don't want to light it!

 

We are off to Malta at the end of September, we have vowed not to light up until after then.

On Vanya I fitted a cold stat in bedroom to switch eberspacher on if temperature dropped too much ,I also put on/off switch so that it was in reach whilst in bed .

This to me shows how draughty some boats must be and the quality of the insulation.

Our internals have been around the 18degC this last week so no heating required yet.

No, but I did put a jumper on two nights ago for the evening - shock horror, it's August!

 

Admittedly, if I did want heating, I'd have to use the gas Alde boiler as I'm currently missing a Flue... soon to be rectified when a new one is fabricated (the old one had serious tin worm!).

 

I refuse to use the gas heating though, it costs too much!

I've not lit a fire and flat out refuse to until at least the first week of October. I have though thought about ordering coal. In fact, I'll do it now.

No fire or heating in the evening its to warm for that, however the eber comes on at 0515 so its warm in the bathroom for my shower at 05.45

Coal was delivered month ago to get summer prices.
