In response to John6767 who thhought 600 points was impossible - He was quite right - the following staement comes from Roy Kenn, organiser of The BCN Challenge. Roy does not have internet access but is pleased that this general chat is taking place amongst entrants.

 

“ We have had a query as to whether the scoring matrix has fundamentally changed for this year’s challenge. Yes it has. We have cancelled the length bonus, reduced the mileage factor and reduced some of the values for the sections from 3 to 2. This should result in much closer scores and probably nowhere near the 600 plus points of last year’s winners”

That's quite some list, and just from the forum?

I take it there will be other non-forumites taking part also?

The Main Line that weekend is going to be like the Llangollen in mid-July!

 

Yes. There were twenty entries when only fifteen forum members (I think) had sent in forms

 

This will be a bumper year

 

I wonder if we can persuade Hawne Basin to let us all raft up opposite the clubhouse?

Yes Odin will be going, hopefully.

 

However, as you know from recent dialogue, Odin is more than capable of sabotaging himself.

 

(For the benefit of others he ended up with a severely swollen and infected leg and foot due to soft tissue damage, almost certainly sustained through over exuberant chasing of balls in muddy fields - we are talking skid marks several feet long here! Now about half way trough a course of anti-biotics, it looks heaps better, but we are still not walking him, and he is going progressively more stir crazy.....)

Roy has been in negotiations with the Hawne Basin Committee and they have offered to provide a comprehensive buffet for participants at the conclusion of the event

They will also provide BBQs for cooking of your own food and real ale will be available at very reasonable prices


They are very keen to welcome you all and intend to make the event a Challenge to remember clapping.gif


In the event of bad weather (pessimistic wacko.png ) they have a DVD of earlier Challenges to entertain you
