Thank you for that @Dave_P one for the alternative BCN Challenge? Richard
-
No problem if he wants to visit the Work Shop with us I just need to know. ?
-
I'm not impressed about the comment "maybe you could gatecrash the whole explorer cruise? " If you are on the BCN & would like to join us at the CRT Workshop at Bradley please email me first so we know who you are & explain arrangements and add you to our visit.. Good Times is absolutely right we have as many boats on the cruise that we feel we can manage & all places are booked for them. bcns.explorercruise@gmail.com

Yes I've seen them. Well Done to Mike Anson. Maybe a few of the Explorer Cruisers will appear here soon!
-
The plan for this years Explorer Cruise is to merely visit Tividale Quays as we are mooring at Tipton to visit the Pie Factory & the library for an illustrated talk about the history of Tipton & Tividale. Maybe a change could be made next year.

* FOUND * Stolen Boat - from Mercia Marina
nellieD replied to Yank on the Cut's topic in General Boating
Just received this in an email, sent yesterday, from a friend on her boat at Weston:- "In meantime ( might be Old News by now) came across what hopefully was the Stolen Boat. Moored alongside a Field at last Bridge on outskirts of Weston upon Trent. CPSO Officer was in attendance checkg around Boat. I shouted ovr, is this the Stolen Boat as it answered the description. Officer looked abit miffed & replied, presumed so. Asked us where licence Number would be displayed. Shouted to him, Number Plates had been discarded when stolen & that we would have reported it had he not been present already.". -
That's OK Richard. It was a puzzle to us as we couldn't find anything on the prop but something was there!! After much time spent our long boat hook found a large interesting log that had been under the water for a great length of time had caught itself to the underside of the boat & was catching on the prop. Much relief as we thought it was something serious!! Saw Tawny Owl later at Polesworth but no sign of you.

This "clad" boat on the Ashby did not fit the description. We were suspicious of it but the window formation was different & it was an older boat. We passed it moored past Shackerstone yesterday. -
CRT dont want skilled equipped volunteers, heres the proof

Have you tried the BCN Society? We have a work party cleaning up the Walsall Canal this Saturday to which you would be very welcome. This will be the third Saturday in a row. Shame I didn't pick this message up before. This message was put on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/BirminghamCanalNavigationsSociety/?ref=hl "Another successful clean up this weekend and a good crew to grapple the bridge holes on the Walsall between Hollyhead road, Darlason road, Heathfields road and Barnes Meadow bridges. A great haul of mattresses, trolleys, tyres, a wheelchair !!!, 1TV and a huge tool chest (obviously stolen and dumped) At the Wagon & Horses after the cleanup we proposed our next workparty at Ocker Hill starting at 09.00 next Saturday 27th Feb to continue up the Walsall canal from Porketts bridge onwards so please send another call to arms to all to help. Again there will be soup and cake to sustain the troops! Car parking available at Ocker Hill moorings. Directions Baylees lane Tipton, DY4 0PX" Give Stuart a call if you are interested in joining this clean up - 07510167288 -
The following is a message from Sadie, Fred's widow:- It is with great sorrow that I tell you that on 18th November, after a mega heart attack on Monday 16th, Fred died in the hospital at Peterborough. I was with him throughout his last 48 hours. I have been since last century! What a marvellously skilled and knowledgeable man he was, and so quiet and modest. A privilege to know and an honour to be his wife. Sorry but I am too upset to add more at the moment but do ask for any details etc that you would like to know. Fred's Funeral will be held on Monday 7th December at 3.30 at Fenland Crematorium Knight's End Road March Cambridgeshire PE15 0YJ There will also be a gathering of remembrance, on Saturday 12th December at 2.00, to be held at The Bridge Inn, BREWOOD, Staffs, ST19 9BD. Please come along with your memories of Fred and any photographs you have.
