You could get up the GU as far as Wolverton Aqueduct then just chuck it over the side onto the Great Ouse.

Seriously though, you do not have the headroom with one of those lifeboats to get under bridges on the Nene and Middle Levels.

If it's a free fall lifeboat, it is designed to be dropped from a great height from an iron structure.

Perhaps it’s like this- at least it got from Calcutt to Braunston over 1 week recently. The orange seems to be difficult to clean.

I imagine it's quite cosy to cruise it in winter. On a hot summer's day though... you'd probably get cooked!

i was thinking of going on the great Ouse before Northampton , don't mind the long way . never been on a boat before.

If you are thinking of a sea passage, the statement above in red worries me.

Boat transporters will need you to measure the width.

Be careful about boats like this conveniently advertised as being just under 9ft wide because this is the width limit for boats transported without escort vehicles.

Once you get above 9ft it gets a lot more expensive to move by road.

Measure the boat properly.

eta it is 2.9m/9ft6 not 9ft but you get the idea.

the boat might be wider than they are saying.

That is a LOT nicer than I was expecting !!!

I like that.

You might be able to get it shifted on a trailer.

There is a crane opposite.

If that's the boat in question it certainly doesn't look like it's as wide as stated, the air draft is fine, it's just the water draft that might be too deep.

Has it changed? Parglena didn't need an escort at 11ft5" had it been 11ft 6" it would have done.

We did need to file a passage plan🤔

maybe an escort isn't needed. A lot of companies advertising escorts for loads over 2.9m wide.

It is more expensive if you have to use a lorry rather than a 4x4 and a trailer.

That boat looks like it might go on a trailer.

2.9m and over you need to notify and file a passage plan.

3.5m and over you need an escort.

4.1m and over you need a police escort.

I agree, looks a good conversion. I wonder if this was a ship's lifeboat, rather than a drop boat.

Not a free fall, probably double davit like we used on the gas platforms down off the east coast

Looks like a lovely little boat. Worth measuring the width if you haven't already done so. Looks less than 2.7m, but may be deceiving.
