Lift bridge which seems to have multiple names

Locomotive bridge on the control panel

Quay Road bridge on the sign

Tunbridge Lift bridge on Canalplan

Always known it as Turnbridge, as it's on Turnbridge Road and there's the Turnbridge Working Mens Club we sometimes used to nip in for a pint after watching Town lose to whoever they were playing :D

Perhaps inspired by this at Hyde Lock on the Staffs & Worcs:20230819_091320.thumb.jpg.7912521bd8ba6e700946b38a7b6cbff9.jpg

There were gates like this here in the 1980s, which later disappeared (or perhaps just rotted away). But when I was there last year I saw they had been reinstated.

Almost seems like spring today at Putney. My berth for a couple of tides. Hurlingham Yacht club trots. Nice little tug boat on the end for company with goose nests on it.

Being an infrequent visitor to Amsterdam - an image from 1Aug1983 ...

On this day 2018   Amsterdam ...

spacer.png

which I notice has some discussion on a subreddit called  /mildlyinteresting and whether it is the narrowest house in Amsterdam, or not.  This stock image shows that it does have a doorknob to gain access (rather than being a storage facility for one of the adjacent properties).

Anyway there might be a useful interaction between the house residents and those who live on narrowboats ...

Hmmm ... stairs ...

So the challenge is (and the deadline is midday) to find an image of a three-storey narrowboat ...

That footbridge seems to have been closed for ages. What is actually wrong with it?

I guess with there being a swing bridge alongside it is a low priority for repair, so will just moulder away until it becomes unsafe and is demolished.

I loved living in the Netherlands

We will be in the Netherlands again later this year with the van. Only a fleeting visit this year though. Must find more time to do it justice.

Those gates were there in the early 70s or even late 60s I believe. Lovely aren’t they!

I hadn’t seen the entrance to Alrewas village until the other day but thought this nice too. One on each side of the road. I imagine the residents wished they could be closed sometimes
