  15. Nicely filmed. Appreciate the non judgemental approach and no attempt to find a novelty angle, just good straight forward filming. Hope you can stay true to that approach if and when you go professional.

  17. Loads of us have done this many times over the years. There is always a choice of places to park, roadside, car parks, pubs etc etc etc. I have never had a problem. Best thing is make sure you have a banger that you are not worried about leaving anywhere, having an expensive car makes zero sense at any time of life but whilst cruising even less so.

  19. It's just stupid inconsiderate people on both sides rowing with each other. Some people just have problems sharing their world and living in peace with others, but I'm not really interested in other people's arguments. Got enough of my own sh*t to deal with.

  26. The Op says he wants to cruise the network, he said this in his first post, the initial trip to London is just to get work done, so a 7+ foot boat is not a good boat to cruise the network. Yes, people have been around in old working boats but I bet they have not been down the various tight locks recently. ................Dave

  34. I read it like that too. And I guess most people can’t be arsed hanging around arguing semantics so move on after a day (or two ?). From my experience, I see the vast majority know how to abide by the spirit of things, so I reckon we need less signs not more.

  35. Oi!! I didn’t say they are nicer in every way!! That’s slander!! ? Sort your quotes out....I have a widebeam hating reputation to consider.....

  36. mrsmelly said: Widebeams are immeasureably nicer in every way Except to look at. Just my opinion but they are fugly things I would be embarrassed to be seen steering, most of them. As Frangar says, once you have the width to make a boat-shaped boat, why not make one instead of copying the shape of a narrow boat, which itself has all the grace and pleasing lines of a skip?

  37. I'd say what the sign really means is "Don't take the p!ss and stay here for days on end", given that the boat checkers are unlikely to be recording the time of day a boat on that mooring actually tied up.

  38. This seems to be confirmed by a different version of the map I linked to earlier - https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/refresh/media/original/25505-foxton-locks-visitor-mooring-map.pdf Quote from a panel not shown on the First version of the map I linked to. "Recorded stay time is measured by the number of nights between the First and latest sighting. A boat recorded at any time on two consecutive days will be treated as having stayed for one whole day and a single sighting of a boat on one day only will also be recorded as a one day visit" Agreed, Alan. Saying "nights" instead of "days" makes more sense to me.

  42. I disagree. I think they're unlikely to get caught by zombies on a narrowboat even if they have to tackle a long flight of locks because there's no such thing as zombies. Therefore when escaping from zombies a narrowboat is the perfect form of transport.

  49. I've never had the problems you describe using Interdeck. I've always found it easy to use with a good non-slip finish. In my experience it's actually hard to get a bad result with Interdeck. It does need to go on top of a good quality undercoat or primer/undercoat though.

  50. Thanks for the feedback, but I wasn't under the impression it would cost a tenner, I'm new to boating, not new to life. I've had an idea of what price to expect from a recommended user on here, he's just too busy and not in the country at the time I need to move the boat or he would have done it. And without casting aspertions on a whole canal system or area, my mates boat was burned out (when unattended) on the canal near Wigan, so am wary about that route. That and being new to boating, and not having much previous experience with locks etc, it sounds too much like a mission rather than an enjoyable plod down a canal. I'd rather take it easy and build my experience closer to home and the Mooring before taking it out on adventures. I get that people love their delivery trip back after buying their boat, and I reiterate, if I had more time I'd do it, but unfortunately I don't. I work in education and I can't leave my job when I exit the building, that and the build up to the start of the new semester with the paperwork and new course planning, I'm starting to be very busy. I've got a better idea of the route, and have been advised it's a 3 day trip for someone with experience. So would prefer to pay someone to move it, at least a lot closer to its end destination. I'll meeting the marina today so will ask them as well. I'll keep the thread alive and let everyone know how I get on. Thanks everyone for your assistance and advice.
