  18. About half an amp. They do make these from about 50W to 4000W, and I would suggest looking at the 1000W one for what you want it to do. It will spike to 2000W so should easily be able to start the fridge compressor, just keep an eye on the random sales they do - there is usually something at half price on that site.

  21. Try it and see. Some of them have a min/max setting that will update faster than the display does. If it doesn't work (you don't believe the results) it hasn't cost anything to try.

  24. Johny, this shows that your battery charging regime is woefully inadequate. This is the issue you need to address before you replace them with the same, with lithiums or with anything else.

  25. Where have I? My proposition is consistent. Pound level rose, over topped the low bit, washed a big breach.

  29. I've got a baofeng uv-5r, which you can pick up new for about £25 and reprogram to the UK marine VHF channels (there is a config file floating around the net somewhere). While I'm licensed to use it for UK amateur bands (2m and 70cm) I'm not licensed for marine use, and I think the radio itself wouldn't be legal to use as it's not designed for specific marine VHF. It is however a very cheap way of monitoring, emergency backup, and if you're studying for your ticket, learning by listening to radio procedure. That's probably illegal too however. I've a Sailor R108 on the boat at the mo, so in addition to being able to find my position (my eyes can't always read bridge numbers) via handheld RDF of the Radio 4 LW transmitter, I have a very useful emergency anchor to throw overboard - once I've got my ticket I'm getting one of the old VHF sets with the telephone handset!

  32. Not possible, your rant has been edited, has unladylike language been removed? It's not allowed on here, you need to go elsewhere to hone those skills, you'll get plenty of practice in robust banter.

  39. PPS Use the Horseandhoundforum for these issues. https://forums.horseandhound.co.uk/categories/hho-forum.50/ It's part of the Horse and Hound website, lots of good posts about horses, ponies, and other equids.

  45. The person who copied over Tony's post didn't "join to stir things up", like me, he has been a member of this forum longer than t'other, though only occasionally posting here. Certain members here seem to be speeding in to cause bother, when bridges need to be put in place. Has anyone any instructions re bridges?

  46. Me as well. Knowledge in depth, which should be an asset to this forum. I am certainly not in favour of petty and childish name calling which smacks of the playground. Those types of opinions are best left unsaid. Howard

  47. Clodi I remember a very expensive, upmarket battery manufacturer that sold other "stuff" but my age has dictated that I cannot remember the name of said company. The name began with something like BAR . .... and they did sell kit such as you seek. Phil
