  1. Very sad to hear of Jan's passing. I used to meet her and Dave at the regular Buckby banters, where she was always able to relieve me of some money for her Chesterfield canal fund raising, I also managed to donate some of my "junk" for the same cause. Although I had not met her since the Buckby banters ceased being organized, I will always remember her persuasive sales techniques.
  2. I have a narrowboat with a H & A Norseman hull with galvanised steel cabin walls riveted onto steel ribs welded to the hull and then a hardwood frame bolted to the top of the ribs with beams running the length of the cabin with a wooden roof. I have never seen another boat with this unusual build and wondered if anyone knows of any still out there. AI says that Rugby Boatbuilders made boats like this in the 70s. Apparently they made very cheap boats back in the day and this build would fit that description. The original roof had a single piece of Formica running the length of the cabin sitting on top of the red wood beams, polystyrene insulation in-between laths on top of the beams and 9mm marine ply over the top. I replaced the roof 17yrs ago. Its 1972 Cruiser 50ft.
