Don't you find the same? I'm out on the Avon this summer, having done the other Avon earlier this year. Nene next, then I'm done with rivers. Much prefer the canals. Will be back at Greg's place soon. All the best... Will you be penetrating as far as the Middle Level? Ale waiting.
Maffi Posted September 11, 2017 Report Posted September 11, 2017 Mike I find it useful to be able to turn around just about any where I choose.

Will be back at Greg's place soon. All the best... Oh Mike ... I LURVE the river! Have just returned from Debdale via the Leicester Line and Oxford, having had the hull 2-packed and a new rudder bearing installed. After all those canals 6 - 18-inches lower than usual, creeping along at about 1200 revs, interacting with more hire craft in six weeks than I think I've ever done in a year, it was simply marvellous to exit at King's Lock onto the Thames and open it up. Without barnacles, the boat seems to carve a pretty line through the wide water ... on a pretty much empty river at 1800 revs most of the way downstream. Maffi, sorry to hear about your word loss. Fact or fiction? Can you quickly recreate the arc of it, then fill in the detail afresh?

I dont read blogs/vlogs/logs but was speaking to a fellow boater today who tells me Maffi is alive and well. He pulled alongside me on his way to Banbury back end of last year and was chirpy as ever. He like spending his RAF pension too much to shuttle off anywhere.
