Sods Law. 🤩 When you get a really gorgeous mooring like that something unexpected happens. You find you no longer want to go cruising as it's nicer on your mooring than it is elsewhere, out on the cut.
magnetman Posted yesterday at 09:40 Report Share Posted yesterday at 09:40 No pets and no children is an interesting rule. The non towpath side house at Black Jacks lock always used to have very loud dogs in their garden. That was back in the late 00s so maybe they have gone quiet now. Maybe not same dogs but some still there. Funnily enough I chased off three kids with a catapult who were using the boats there for target practice a couple of weeks ago.

You would't care to convince those visiting our garden not to continue to do the decidedly un-clean things they currently do?

Technically cats should be sent to the sausage factory for onward processing. I wonder if pet tortoises would be okay. My uncle used to have pet tortoises in his gardens. We had great fun trying to find them when visiting as children. We had snakes. Garter snakes and corn snakes. Quiet and no harm to anyone. Cats are far more destructive to local wildlife and leave far more sh*te lying around than a dog 🙄

Well there is one but I quite like him.

Disgusting creatures I have a cat and, brings the occasional mouse, but only one bird, he uses the litter tray. 20 minutes ago, GUMPY said: Where their owners can pick it up. The evidence is that they shit outside my boat, every day. Man is the great destroyer. Once the hedges were havens for wildlife, birds were abundant, fields were wildlife meadows. Grasses were mixed varieties. Cornfields had poppies and other weeds. There was a time before DDT that the earth itself was tilled with earthworms, various beetles, mychorhiza and so on. Farming was not intensive but nobody starved. But the urban population wanted cheap food, and so it was decreed.
