Just warning you off Stressless, overpriced and not good quality, they use cheap foam, on an expensive chair, unreal.

I'm going to have to try to replace the seat foam as it is completely flattened.

Wilson’s of kinver.

Are they still in business?

We had a couple of captains swivel chairs of them a few years ago and would like a couple of new ones.

Any info anyone??

cheers.

I don't think they are still in business. When we bought a pair of chairs from them several years ago Mr Wilson was in his 80s then and I think he has now  retired. I agree, that Wilsons chairs are excellent!

Point of order...

There is no such thing as cheap foam in my experience. All foam is expensive, even the low quality stuff.

I had two stressless on my last boat. I have had Wilsons which were good, the stressless were vastly superior in every way. They do at least 3 sizes of each chair and it does make a difference re the body fit and comfort. Maybe of recent years they have reduced quality?

We have two Stressless chairs purchased from Carters of Kidderminster as they are alongside the canal and we were able to pick them up straight on to the boat as their showroom has towpath access.  They removed all the packaging and helped get them in through our centre doors, excellent service and chairs are very comfortable.

I'm not sure if that's a genuine question -- and nobody asked me such a question when I bought mine -- or a snide personal/sexist dig at a female poster... 😉

A genuine question, not everybody is aware that Stressless Chairs come in 3 different sizes. Were you there in person when you bought yours?

Yes, maybe that's why I wasn't asked -- the salesman was helpful and knowledgeable, they sell a lot of Stressless chairs. I'm very pleased with mine 🙂

Did you buy a knock-off?

Mine, sized according to me, is high quality and very comfortable. £1,600 with foot-stool.

Stone the crows, Stressless chairs appear to be £2k each!!!!

Himolla is much the same price, if not more. Its the German springs you see.

There's probably a four sprung duck technique joke there, but I really can't be bothered.

Ditto, it's the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in 🙂

As soon as I sat in it ( and it is the correct size) I could feel the blocks of foam in the armrests, a properly upholstered chait would not demonstrate that effect. It's four years in and the seat is sunken, two cushions required to make it usable.

It still looks good, I wash it with Cusssons Imperial leather soap suds every so often, having tried specialist cleaners and not been impressed with them.

I would buy it again at £500 for chair plus stool, but not £2000.

It was brand new in original bubble wrap from online charity shop.

Wilson's ceased to exit some time ago. Their ex-employees set up Kinver Canopies.

Wilson’s covers or what ever their name did cease years ago. But old man Wilson carried on with the chair and settee business. You are correct, Kinver Canopies evolved from Wilson’s. We bought a bed settee from Mr Wilson in I think 2014. What a rude Yorkshireman.

Regarding the chairs, we bought from https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/stressforless  We are very pleased

Mr Wilson was alright, we had two of their chairs that converted to single beds and then he reupholstered are dinette cushions in the same fabric.  I went to his house to collect the cushions.

He was okay but rude. In my opinion.

I think I’m being a little mis-understood. He was a businessman through and though, but very abrupt. He brought our settee to Thrupp near the lift bridge. Blocked the way and refused to shift when asked. Said his driver would be there at such and such a time and I got a phone call from him asking where we were, about an hour earlier than planned. We arrived half an hour later and the driver was him. Ihad no idea he was the driver until I met him for the drop. Thought he might have mentioned that. I was just not comfortable with him. Hey Ho! The settee is spot on. No idea who made them for him.
