For narrow beam craft the Rochdale is currently closed due to a fallen tree, which will be sorted in a day or two, and water shortage on the summit, also expected to be sorted in a couple of days. Neither of those can be blamed on CRT, and will be sorted soon. So no, the Rochdale is not closed in any way that will prevent you from using it unless you are already here.

Jen-in-Wellies
Don't feel so bad about not being able to boat out of Sheffield now. If we could, we can't get very far. https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/notice/21997/repairs-to-wash-wall-tinsley-no9-plumpers-lock-and-lock-78-bottom-gate
Momac
If the only way to go South out of Yorkshire is the North Sea it implies the there is a stoppage on the Trent which does not appear to be the case.

But had I turned left instead of right and onto Huddersfield I would have been just about there I reckon. So counting my blessings and to top it all have had a blinding run up/down Huddersfield so far 🙂 14 minutes ago, PD1964 said: Have just seen this, so at least they’re working on it. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cc2zwSOjZXR/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Cheers. dmr
The Rochdale Summit went down quickly yesterday, (or was it the day before?), almost certainly boater related so can't really blame CRT. As for the claim that CRT are incompetent well, they do have some very bad days and today was one on them. The guilotine lock refused to release my BWB key so we phoned for help... "we are at the SalterHebble Guilotine lock" CRT "I don't know where that is" "its on the Calder and Hebble Navigation" CRT "I dont know what that is, can you give us what three words" "yes wait a moment, here they are" CRT "so what do you want" "somebody to get our key out of the control panel and give it back to us" CRT "its too late, you should have reported this as soon as it happened" "well yes, thats why we are phoning you right now, its just happened" (this was mid afternoon) (this is an edited version....it was even worse) sorry about spelling errors, just got a new PC and not got the spillchucker going yet

(though we were on another boat as ours won't go through the silly little locks here) The local swing bridge gives a load of trouble, some BW keys fit and many don't, we often have passing boats knocking on our door asking for help, my key worked every time and now its gone, maybe my next one will not be as good, will test it tomoro. 😀
