Okay, boating but not general boating!

This video seems to show boats effectively going UP through a flash lock - I think in Thailand. The jostling and rush against the current is something to behold! 

Oh, and one of them sinks in the process...

Not sure the MCA would approve!

Most of them are fair tramming through those narrows, a lot of power being expended there.

Absolutely no consideration for anybody else, life or property.  With the tiny tug dragging the blunt fronted crane boat suddenly sinking itself in the  mouth of the narrows everybody else just accelerated to grab its space!

What a wonderful spot to take the family for a picnic.

Most of them look a bit furrin but this particular one could have come straight out of Englandland

Is this taken from the bottom gate of Bancroft Basin lock, looking onto the Avon?

 

I can only presume a new Wetherspoons had just opened in Saigon, and everyone was rushing to get a table for curry club?

They look like sand barges which load sand dredged from the river by the machinery seen on a couple of the boats.

Some of them look like sand barges but this wooden one seems to have some sort of liner for the hold. Just randomly chosen there may be others similar.

Wide boats up here in the north would use that sort of lining for carrying grain, though it does seem to lack a bit of cloth near the stern.

This one looks like it must have been going to carry something already bagged. 

 

Otherwise how would you get it all out ?
