The barge seemed to handle it pretty well. 

Might have been a few cups of tea spilled but nothing too serious.

It gets lumpy around there with the incoming waves  interacting with the reflected waves coming back off the eastern arm of Dover Harbour. Don't ask how I know, but it was in a much smaller boat than that.......

 

The video amply demonstrates why crossing the channel in a narrowboat would be a challenge.

20 people in a 10 foot rubber dinghy with a 4hp engine seem to manage it (regularly).

And they frequently need to be rescued. In fairness they also choose calmer days.

I would have liked to have seen some shots of the interior when it got moored up safely!!
