doratheexplorer
Following Boris’s speech. In England we can now travel around as much as we want it seems, so will CRT be saying that cruising is back on as long as social distancing is done? Thoughts? There was significant disobedience of the rules so things were changing anyway No activity outside of your home group is permitted without observing social distancing. I will not be changing much and will settle for a more gradual change with working from home and next weekend visiting the boat but not going anywhere immediately. W+T
There was no comment on not being allowed to travel on the boats, thats to do with CRT advising us under GUV guide lines, but going there you can as long as you use common sense for leisure. CRT will decide tomorrow or in a day or so if they advise us not to cruise or even be on our boats. Its all common sense isnt it.

No. We are such a vanishingly small and irrelevant section of special interests that we don't count for diddly squat. The ban was brought in under the "holiday homes, caravans and campsites and similar facilities" rule, so until the scouts can go jamboree, and the emmets can all go to Cornwall we can't go boating.
matty40s
The .Gov has removed the Stay At Home from the slogans, Stay Alert now being the obscure and nonenforcable slogan. We will be chugging out, maintaining 2m distance from the towpath , at the earliest opportunity.

Jen-in-Wellies
Apparently we have to "Stay Alert", rather than stay at home now, so as long as you stay alert and inspect all surfaces and airborne particles and droplets with an electron microscope for the virus you'll be fine. What do you mean, you don't have an electron microscope? Edited May 10, 2020 by Jen-in-Wellies 1

My house is 4 miles from where my boat is moored, and I could drive past it en route to a shop if anyone stopped me and asked me. I wouldn't be moving into a different NHS area if I went to the boat, so no trouble there. One of my best friends lives on a boat tied 300 yards from my boat, and it was his birthday yesterday. I didn't go, even though I really wanted to. I know the government have been tweaking the slogan so we don't need to bother protecting the NHS anymore, but I look at it this way: Is this journey worth killing a nurse for? Me going to the boat isn't at this point. If my other friends tell me it's on fire or sinking I'll go and check. It's not about me, it's about who I might spread the disease to. There was nothing specific to say you can in the announcement tonight. There may be more in the document to be released tomorrow. I doubt that will be specific enough for such a minority activity. You and us all will have to wait for CRT to make an announcement. However, if one lives in Wales or Scotland the answer is a definite NO.
