Lots of us would love to go cruising but we aren't. Non-essential travel has been ruled out by the government - this is quite clearly non-essential travel. This is a classic case of entitlement and 'the rules don't apply to me'. And you say you're an expert in disease control??? So let presume you already have the virus but don't know it - how do you propose to get yourself from Goole to Ripon without touching anything on the way or once you get there? Using the excuse that we've been told to stay at home and therefore you can move about like this because your boat is your home is appaling pedantry. You know damn well that's not what the advice means and you're using a technicality to try and dodge round the rules. The 14 day rule has been relaxed for a reason - it's to try and prevent all non-essential boat movements, but allow boaters to still access vital services. People are dying because of selfish attitudes like yours. I'm frankly disgusted. I'm not going out for a jollie, being a high risk person and someone with experience of disease control, I would be happy to help t'others, because I know how to control disease. I am more in danger from others than vice versa. On Monday four adults arrived next door, that is not only unnecessary travel, it is stupid. I don't think we would have any risk in going to the boat, as we moor on the offside in a long pound, and I had been half expecting we would go regularly for a break. Even bought more coal on Saturday! However whilst I don't think there would be any risk to myself (and I am very vulnerable) or others, the spirit of the latest restrictions means we will stay at home (although I have to go to the hospital this afternoon for one of my important regular scans). I suppose I could say "sod the lot of you", and probably get away with it, but it's not a good example to set others. Hopefully I can maintain my sanity in the house, but oh what would I give to go for a bit of boating; god knows what i will feel like in a few weeks time. Thank you for restoring a bit of my faith in people. 31 minutes ago, Athy said: Expressing opinions is fine. Personal insults to other members are not fine. Careful, gentlemen, please. There are no precautions which could completely protect you, short of being stranded on an uninhabited island for the last 3 months. Goole Docks don’t count. Is this perhaps the reason for wishing to get away?.... do you not get on with them through the window? ...you have enough you said for self isolation for four weeks where you are. I dont imagine anybody would get in a paddy about moving onto the tow path for a night or two's break from the confines of a marina, if the marina allowed it. But as somebody else pointed out you might not be able to get back in to fill up with water, even if you dont need diesel. However there is the point now that crt have relaxed the rules about moving at least untill the 14th April, you could of course elect to stay towpath, but you will still need water. It's the travelling aspect that is being suggested as very much against the current restrictions that everybody else is having to put up with, some in far greater hardships than you in your sanitised bubble. As churchward and others have pointed out your "bugger boris" attitude isnt helping, it's a small community and you have chosen to live it, get on with it like everybody else has to and listen to what others are saying. She might be once the emergency powers at is enacted but not right now. There is restriction on liveaboards going to their boats now as this would be non-essential travel. There has been no instruction either from CRT or EA to stop movement of boats but they are making it easier to stay put if people wish. LadyG is going into isolation it may not be the most sensible thing to do should she need help but if she is OK she isn't really effecting anyone, However, I do not know what her intentions are or where she is going and the "blow Boris" attitude is not what is needed right now. As far as I remember ABP operate the lock onto the Ouse and their rules state 2 person on the boat and you need VHF. Naburn and Selby locks are keeper operated and may not be working. You might be able to make Naburn from Goole on one tide but if not then you would have to be able to enter Selby basin to wait for the next tide. The three locks to Ripon are manual wide locks. I suggest you do some checking to see if it is possible,
