Saw-id! 🙂 It turned out to be a dodgy fuse holder near the batteries that the builder installed years ago when they fitted the original Eberspacher. When I replaced it and fitted the Webasto a couple of years ago I spliced into the same 12v cables and left that fuse & holder in place. Anyway I did a few continuity tests this afternoon in various places and discovered it was faulty. Replaced and all good now - thanks for the advice.

A curiously accurate quantity. Had I cracked open 2 x 1L bottles of ATF, I'd have charged for two litres and left behind the remaining 0.4L.

Don't feel too bad, unfortunately it seems to happen far too frequently. How anyone can claim 14 hours for a service and injector change is beyond me, unless there was more work than listed. Even if they had their own pump room and overhauled the injectors themselves it still seems way, way too much time - especially as they seem to have caused an oil leak or failed to find it and fix it. I would just observe that when I tried to help someone avoid what looked like a setup for a similar experience a week ago I got insulted and berated for my efforts.

Yeah, 3x Victron 330W poly panels should fit on there. They’re 6’6 x 3’6. Not much else would fit up there with them so I’d need to build some boxes I expect. I’ve found my new life goal.

There was a brief flurry of boats around lunchtime on the Leicester arm, we moored in a horrible place with no facilities at all, no hook up, no water point and no pump out. I dont recommend it at all.

I think that you can get silicon rocker cover gaskets for those engines. They do not dry out and distort like the cork ones do, but still stick it to the rocker cover. It is just two but "bolts" by the lifting eyes to undo to get the rocker cover off. Be wary about overtightening the fixing bolts because you can distort the cover.

We use something very similar in our submersible at work in the ballast tanks. It does have a variable resistance to indicate how full the tanks are.

Sometimes I wonder if servicing an engine introduces more faults than it prevents. Depends on how good (or not) the service technician is.

As far as I can tell from the photos the metalwork of your existing frames looks to be OK. In which case what is the point of replacing it with new? I think your best course if action is to remove the existing windows, clean them up, replace the rubbers, push some sealant into the joints if they are open, and then refit. You can do them one at a time so you can judge after doing one if it has been successful.
