  1. I bought a hammer drill. Was quite disappointing. It worked fine as a drill but turned out to be virtually useless for banging nails in.

  4. Greatn (where n is a very large number) Grandfather Bizzard said "But half the time, folk don't need bronze tools to do simple jobs when peaceful flint tools can do it. Most folk these days have lost the art of knapping flint. Around here for example, we have folk getting out their wretched bronze axes to cut up twigs when they can be cut much more quickly with a flint blade glued with pine resin in to a wooden handle. Mucking about with smelting and casting and the smoke and smell just to get a few ounces of bronze. Having to trade with foreigners in Wales and Cornwall for copper and tin. It 'taint natural. This new fangled metal ought to be banned. Kids today."

  14. This is so true. I knew everything in my 20's by 30 I realised I still had a bit to learn, at 40 it was almost overwhelming, now at 50 I am just grateful for books, colleagues and the realisation I will never know everything

  29. So having seen the attached advertisement, I am seriously considering putting my luxury craft up for sale. Having done the math, I reckon if I could get £1.5 million for her, I should just about break even, and in companion the mooring fees as a single occupancy for the whole marina would seem very reasonable. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/money/homeandproperty/britains-biggest-houseboat-boasting-five-bedrooms-sauna-jetski-and-stunning-views-of-tower-bridge-goes-on-sale-for-£35million-plus-£32000-a-year-to-moor-it/ar-BBYyUhN?li=AA64tF&ocid=iehp Just a couple of questions, have any of your folks added a Jacuzzis and Sauna on your boats, I do have 2 * 175 solar panels, thinking I may need to add to the 4 * 110 amp leisure batteries, appreciate any advice and guidance.

  33. Well it is the correct type of glass for a stove door. The kitchen does have a fire extinguisher and blanket. Escape should be easy as a light kick would get you through any cabin side. The gaps in the roof are a charming and novel way to meet the high level ventilation recommendations and acts as a flue for the gas heater. The cooker sloping in to the wall means it can't topple over. The "builder" has definitely read at least some of the BSS requirements. No bids yet, despite the seller having 100% positive feedback. The next and bigger project will be something to see!

  34. If you dangled by your feet on a rope from a window or drain pipe you could use both hands for a hand drill and all would be peaceful.

  46. In a small boat I would just have a small stove with backboiler to heat hot water via a calorifier and a radiator, easy and cheap Vanessa plus reliable

  47. having tried several cheaper vacuum bags which didn't work very well, we bought a couple from Lakeland and they were great - for a while! We use the bags for taking stuff to and from the boat but after a few trips, the bags start to reinflate. Contacted lakeland who told us that the bags are designed for a few uses and not for the way we were using them. The lakeland bags sat inside a fabric box shape which zipped shut and there were straps inside for tightening when the bag was deflated. With the straps on and the bag zipped, even if the vacuum bag leaked it couldn't get much bigger so it was still useful for our purpose. haggis Just looked at the Lakeland web site and they have some good offers on vacuum bags just now.

  48. The bags from Poundland don't work very well as within a week air has leaked back in. Pay 'decent' money for a 'decent' bag.
