Burnham is a clever political operator, in the way Starmer wasn't. His calculation is that a majority of oldies are going to vote Reform UK Ltd anyway and younger voters either still secretly believe they will never grow old, or have already factored in never being able to afford to retire, like they will never afford a house, or to afford to have kids. Either way, Labour is no worse off. Stealth income cuts, over a long period are ones people don't notice, until they can no longer afford to even feed themselves on Lidl own brand gruel, let alone the posh Waitrose stuff.
