Metal connector piece dropped into gearbox

I use a Pela 6000 to drain both the engine and the gearbox, no mess and it's easy, engine needs to be warm though.

Engine has one of those hand pumps from the drain plug but the Pela removes more oil than that does.

A funnel helps me fill both with no mess.

 

What am I doing wrong?🤔

Finding 'stored' items is a constant challenge for me. 

I will be buying these things in the certain knowledge that once stored, they will never be seen again by human eyes- unless I find a machine that turns the boat upside down and shakes it until everything falls out.

 

 

I can't move in my boat, because of Sod's law.

Probably not a lot....

 

Unless you leave the little metal bit on the bottom of the tube and it falls off into your gearbox!

There isn't one on the Pela........

If you strip the thread on the sump you can fit a helicoil insert to take the original sump plug.

That was Pele. Football geyser not a suction pump device. 

 

It is an understandable error so it is ok to stand under it.
