roland elsdon
Apparently anxiety is a reason not to wear a face mask as is having a personality disorder. ( I kid you not). They probably had both. Clearly they have insufficient anxiety to prevent them going out, but not enough to give them a social conscience.
Paul Gwilliams
Wearing masks in shops is mandatory but it is not helped by shops refusing to enforce the rules mainly for fear of verbal or physical abuse. Also the exemption card is little known about and as pointed out is not mandatory to show or carry With further changes coming tomorrow it's only going to get worse As mentioned in this and other threads there is a noticible degeneration of behaviour even before covid. Too many people think it's their "uman right" to do what they want, when they want with no regards to the consequences. It is enough to despair as to what the future will bring as the majority of the knuckle draggers procreate at the drop of a hat or is that underwear! Considered rude in every context as it refers specifically to an unchaste woman, hence its use as an insult, but the use in relation to a male is therefore erroneous. Because the UK is not so unified, the Welsh and the Scots welcome any opportunity to distance themselves from any Westminster decision, and why wouldn’t they? magnetman
I've travelled on London underground recently (without a face covering as I have a medical exemption) and I did find some of the intercom messages from the drivers quite aggressive. They said "for those people who just got on the train without face coverings please put your face coverings on - it is mandatory". Or similar. I think this could be taken up in law under the equality act as bullying. It's easy to assume people are just taking the piss but a medical exemption exists and it covers certain defined conditions not all of which are obvious to an observer. PhilR
Why are there so many shelf stackers in shops and supermarkets who don't wear masks? and why do they invade our space? I can sympathise with that as wearing one for a full shift is different from wearing one for a 15 to 20 minute shopping trip. And are they invading your space?.............or are you invading theirs? ??

It's an interesting take on your theory from back towards the end of April. The figures turned out twice as bad as the article suggested though. https://m.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/apr/28/coronavirus-hype-biggest-political-hoax-in-history/ There was an Oxford Uni study at the end of May which concluded 1 in 5 people in England thought it was a hoax. That's quite surprising when we were getting over the peak. I wonder what the result would be if they carried out the study now? 1 minute ago, ditchcrawler said: Maybe that is because a lot of us have not been mixing and socialising for the past 4 months like we used to? The trouble with that theory is that other than a few areas like Sweden (who didn't enforce lock down and faired better than us per capita) there is little to prove it.
