PeterScott
On this day in 2015 Bridge 82/81 T&M. This lot decided on a trot along the towingpath, and at the narrow bits, a couple of their number took to the canal. They continued at a lesser pace, until reaching a C&RT maintenance craft and we left the maintenance people to find the farmer and resolve the problem. I'm not convinced they understood the concept of giving way to pedestrians.

PeterScott
On this day in 2001 Autherley SU. Viewing some form of airship or similar. A memorable day, starting with clearing up the engine room after a fire the previous evening. Started in the electrical system, and the boat was around Coseley Tunnel BCN; it would have been nasty had it happened inside the tunnel. Recruited a passing boater for a cross-straps tow to the top of Wolverhampton 21. With four of us, we were doing better on ropes down the locks than the boat-with-engine ahead, so by loaning them one crew we equalised our speeds. Two lads from Acton Bridge (T+M), where we were based, rewired the whole thing in four or five hours the next day, and after a bit of coughing and general complaining about its lot, the engine was fine and we were on our way again.
