Steam powered coal fired narrowboat

Do you need that bow at 3 mph. Last time I saw this boat it was moored between Chester and Ellesmere Port

It says in the description it was designed for coastal travel. A 36" prop might dig in a bit on the canals.

WHAT a mess.

A gas-free boat, powered by two 300W solar panels, struck me in particular.....

It might have a solid fuel range on it ... I'd have one on a steam boat.

It doesn't say so in the advert though!

the draught is 3 foot 2 “  and swings a 32” axiom prop

... and I'm out.

What diesel? Its steam powered.

But yes, solar powered electrically heated boilers for the steam engine. Very practical, should work fine.

Foret the electric, but solar heated boilers are very practical, they use something called trees   😀 (but they do need rather a lot)

Certainly isn't!

I'm not sure he is selling the boat - maybe its just a platform for an anti-Victon rant?

Most extraordinary!

The seller appears to be "Upminster".

I meant steam just having a blond moment, though I have to say I do like steam engines, so maybe it ccould stay? if coal is good enough for the Germans its good enough for me

Cut out the middle bit of solar to electricity to steam Solar direct to steam. See below. Just needs scaling up a bit to drive a narrowboat 😁
